My fiancé and I were excited to stay at the lazy bones hostel for a couple nights, the reviews were fantastic and when we called to book our room, the person helping us spoke pretty English pretty well. We arrived in chengdu by train and got in a taxi and showed him the address that is provided. We ended up near a hospital about twenty minutes away from where we should have been and were only able to figure out where to go when the driver called the hostel. We mentioned the address mishap when we finally arrived and they didn't seem to concerned that it is mislabeled. The common area is nice with couches and a pool table and chill music playing so I'll give them that, and their breakfast is pretty good but only if you manage to get it in under forty minutes which two out of three times was not the case for us. And this where my compliments end, the room we stayed in could not have smelled more like sewage and the toilet leaked dirty water on to the bathroom floor which was not cleaned each day. The bed was like sleeping on a piece of ply wood with springs sticking out of it and the wifi was almost non existent. I don't understand how people are giving such high ratings to this place. We could not have been more disappointed with the misrepresentation of the lazy bones hostel and do not recommend it to anyone. The front desk staff was barely helpful when asking how to get around or accommodating their tours. They offer a tour that starts at 7am but won't provide you with breakfast beforehand. Instead, they suggested walking 15 minutes to a dumpling place at 6am when they weren't even sure if it would be open. I don't think the experience would have been as bad if the reviews were a little more accurate, but every review was just so misleading that we ended up being annoyed and disappointed with everything. I don't think I can recommend staying there and the only reason i gave it two stars was because of the breakfast and the proximity to other parts...
Read moreThis was one of our favourite places we stayed on our trip around China. Unlike most other hotels in Asia, the staff spoke excellent English and were both accomodating and helpful with tours and city information.||We arrived very late but the staff waited up for us and made sure we were ok for the night. As with many hotels, its cash only; but there are a few auto tellers within 200 metres of the hotel. ||The lounge area and dining rooms wound around the ground floor with homey touches of desk lamps, plump cushions, deep couches and wooden furniture to relax in. There were a good range of board games to amuse ourselves with along with a pool table and darts board. The next floor is a private and secluded reading area, which was delightful to spend a few hours laying on the couch deep in a book.||We all enjoyed the free activities each evening ranging from an introduction to yummy ( but spicy!) hotpots, how to make mooncakes, masks and other fun events.||We loved the convenience of a kitchen making home cooked inexpensive meals throughout the day. There is a small supermarket a few doors up selling all sorts of snack foods and drinks, as well as a super yummy noodle cafe further up the road. ||Our room was spacious and the bathroom clean. Our beds were ‘run of the mill’ Asian style - a lot harder than most European travellers are used to. The rooms are very private and we felt very safe. Wifi was good and though our room had a TV, we didnt turn it on- so not sure what channels were available. ||We appreciated that there was a low cost coin laundry and drying area at the hostel.||The staff were amazing and assisted us with a few tours as well as taxis.||The address is a difficult one to find and most taxis will get lost, so remember to take the hostel card with you if going out.||Would def...

All the floor and the bathroom was soaked after a shower, however slides to wear were provided in the rooms. The wet room was well equipped with toiletries.||There is a washing room but we did not use. ||English speaking friendly staff, lady let us use her phone to order a pizza. Booked a last minute trip for us the night before to go to Leshan Buddha and tea picking.||This was a quirky hostel with good Wi-fi, cheap drinks, a small shop in the reception area which has good priced items. Wish we got to do some of the evening activities at the hostel!||Think the restaurant shut at 7pm which was too early for us so we did not eat there. ||We went in September and the hostel was fairly quiet, only saw about 8 other guests. ||Located about 5 mins walk to a string of shops including Walmart and Dicos.|Located about 30 mins to panda and 1hr 30 to other panda base. We did not use public transport so not sure how close the buses or metro stations are. ||Overall this hostel was good value for money. We also paid some money online in advance and the rest once we arrived...
