Landmark International Hotel — Hotel in Guangzhou City

I ended up at this hotel after another hotel Paco Business Hotel sold my room to someone else. It was 1:00 am and I was there, HOMELESS IN CHINA! My good friend and business partner had a reservation at this hotel during the same trip and called the front desk to see if I could check in early. They agreed to allow me a 6 am check-in on his reservation and we very accommodating to my situation. This has truly restored my faith (somewhat) in Chinese business and business practices.||||The hotel its self is quite far for me from all the business activities I am used to in Guangzhou, but in the end I actually found the location to be quite convenient and the hotel more than adequate for its rating. ||||The breakfast was typical Chinese fare and actually quite tasty. The other guests were more civilized than normal make breakfast a real treat. It is close to the Canton Fairgrounds, but I would never go to Guangzhou for the Canton Fair with its exorbitant prices and scarce taxis! With all the walking I got a bad hangnail and ended up at the Nail Salon on the ground floor. They did a great job fixing my nail and I woke with no pain in the morning. ||||MacDonalds and the Metro are just a few minutes away and my favorite restaurant, Cousin Cousin, is just across the street. Be careful however, because the are three Landmark Hotels in Guangzhou all owned by the same company and using the same Logo on the room key. This comedy/tragedy left me at the far away Landmark Hotel located in Haizhu Square. Also cost me nearly 80 rmb for the taxi. Clean decent and comfortable stay. During the first night they provided a small fruit basket with an apple, a pear and a banana. It was also nice to have 2 free bottles of water to make tea (2 English breakfast and 2 green tea bags) but no coffee.||||The complimentary breakfast was hearty with a small self-serve automatic espresso machine. They also made omelettes to order. Congee (both plain and preserved eggs with pork), Chinese steamed buns (plain, BBQ, sweet red bean and egg yolk custard) were all good. They also had fried eggs and sausages. ||||Amenities were plenty including comb, complete toothbrush and tooth paste set, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and shower cap. Also, slippers -- you will need them in any hotel rooms and it's nice to have them available if you didn't bring yours. ||||Room was comfortable and the bedding was soft with a good duvet. AC was in good working condition. Also included decent wifi throughout the hotel. ||||However, the walls were a little bit thin and you can hear faint conversations from people next door.||||Our rooms were on the lower floor and only faced the plastic lawn and other buildings.||||As with some other hotels, they had a daily shuttle going to the Canton Fair that's excellent.||||In the afternoon they served fresh fruits and juice in the lobby. They also had a small lounging area where we grabbed a few beers while shutting the hot and muggy weather out. ||||The hotel was only a 10-minute (with traffic) cab ride from the Guangzhou South train station. The area did not have any shopping centers close by but there were plenty of local shops if you want to get local food and drinks. Sorry to write it. The hotel is categorized a as luxury but it got old and one does not really carry about it conditions. The price and the reality meets each other but please do not sell it as a luxury one. I got the stinky room, the carpet was still wet. I could not ventilate the room due to the bad air outside. The location of the hotel is great. I had some business in the science city so could enjoy the short distance to the office and great park around. ||||Not is bad. They provide shuttle service to the science center. The personnel is very nice. ||||The hotel restaurant is ok, if you know what to expect from Chinese hotel standards . It means that you will get food but the environment is different from in the western hotel.||||So just do not expect too much and you will not be disappointed.||I had to spend one week in the hotel, but I moved to another one. ||||Sorry for this review.
