First of all, I have to say that booking.com has epically failed on this regard. I booked my Superior Double Room months in advance and when I got there, it was literally a prison cell. ||||The pictures were a complete lie--the "double bed" was a twin beed that was shoved into a closet that had 1ft of space between the bed and the wall. The "window" had bars put on it and was boarded up from the outside and the room was dimly lit with yellow lighting. The sheets were stained, and honestly I couldn't breathe. The room also felt like a sauna as the AC was a complete joke even after I cranked it up on high and waited around for 30min while I spoke with people from booking.com. The hotel people showed me another room that had all of the problems mentioned above...except somehow the room seemed smaller if that's even possible. ||||I explained all of these issues to them but they refused to give me a refund after I told them that I literally could not stay there because I was feeling nauseous beccause of the tiny and stuffy room.||||Spoke with booking.com three separate times and they were completely useless in handling this situation, basically saying that it was a 'he said, she said' scenario and that they couldn't take sides...||||In the end I left before anything was resolved regarding my refund--I had paid $100USD for 2nights, and literally I found a super nice ACTUAL hotel just 10min away for $30 more for the same amount of time. Basically this is to say STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!||||If this hasn't convinced you yet, Park Guest House is in this complex called Chung King Mansion, which basically appears to be a cooperative of different hostels. You will be majorlyyyyyy harassed by the dozens of 'proprietors' who skulk around in the lobby downstairs, verbally and/or physically as they try to convince you to come stay at their hostel. A couple of the men actually grabbed me and tried to drag me over so they could, I assume, convince me to stay at their hostel. ||||From start to finish, this entire debacle was a complete circus that completely spoiled the mood for my first night in Hong Kong. ||||NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!!!! Especially, I repeat, given that there are real hotels in the vicinity that are only like $20-30USD more.||||You've been...
Read moreWhatever you do don't stay here, it's really awful. I booked 3 nights in a double room with a friend, and within an hour of being there I'd already booked another place to move to for the following morning - despite the fact I'd spent $140 NZD on it (about 700HKD). It was so bad I'm not even sure where to start.. the beds had been made but the sheets hadn't been washed, evidenced by the fact that there were long black hairs all over both beds. The air-con unit rattled and occasionally dripped some kind of liquid onto one of the beds. There was a towel put outside the bathroom on the floor, but it was absolutely filthy, stained brown and when I turned it over it was even worse, caked with hair and I don't even know what else. The bathroom was the worst bit.. the cistern of the toilet had been cracked at some point and glued back together - despite this it still leaked liquid onto the ground behind the toilet, where it pooled into a large foul-smelling puddle. Showering in there was a traumatic experience. As well as the proximity of the aforementioned puddle, there was barely any room to stand, and the shower unit could only muster a low pressure stream of barely warm water, I actually felt dirtier after showering than before. The one redeeming feature of this place was that the staff were actually quite friendly, but the state of the room was totally unforgivable, even for the low price. Take my advice and ignore the higher-rated reviews of this place, I can only assume they've been placed by friends of the management or something. Spend a few extra dollars and stay somewhere else so you don't regret it like I do. It looks worse than in the...
Read moreI gave it a 2 stars for location because it is technically in a good location however the room itself and the finding the check in is incredibly sloppy.
First off, the photos of the place do not represent what the room actually looks like. The photos show a 8/10 living space whereas when you actually enter it is a 2/10.
Secondly, I attempted to check in and no one was at reception. I met with 2-3 other staff members before someone was able to assist me.
Thirdly, there was a flying mosquito in my room which is an absolute NO.
This was the very first time I left a room and checked out after entering it.
Lastly, I attempted to recover whatever I paid via the Chase banking system and their travel agents. I reported that there were mosquitos, the room does not look at all like their photos, and that it was dirty. All true. They responded that there was no complaints which is obviously untrue based on all of the reviews here on google and provided ZERO refund for the misleading room photos and disgusting room that was provided.
Do yourself a favor and do not book this place. This is one of the worst places/service/cleanliness. It is a slum. Do not let the photos fool you.
*EDIT you will be harassed by their workers handing out cards saying "cheap nice rooms" all throughout...
