I had heard good things about this hotel from friends who had visited Shanghai a few years ago, and who recommended I stay here. Unfortunately I found it a bit of a let down, especially considering the nightly rate - which is on the higher end for a 4-star in Shanghai.||||I'll say to begin that the hard product is not too bad. The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom is clean and the housekeeping seem to be quite thorough. The decor is a bit cliche at this point and a point regarding 'form over function' can be made, however overall it is not bad.||||It's the amenities and staff that really let this place down. The staff are consistently unhelpful and behave as if they are at a local Chinese hotel (the type that costs $30/night) rather than a foreign-friendly 4 star hotel. They ignored my special request and then claimed the hotel is fully booked when I asked for a room transfer - clearly false as I never saw more than one other guest during my 3 day stay. The climate control system is largely non-functional (of course you're 'not allowed' AC during the winter but the heat blew way too hot even on the lowest temp. I had to open the window to keep things balanced).||||While the location is good, I would highly recommend considering another hotel while you're...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Cachet Boutique Kunming so we had expectations for Shanghai, but we are not impressed. The hotel entrance was on a side street and is just weird with dark unmanned entry into the hotel. We guessed our way to the 3rd floor reception because there was no directory on the main entrance. When we arrived it was probably around 10 pm so the whole floor including the reception area was quite dark and most lightnings were turn off which made it felt unwelcoming,||||I requested extra pillows when making the reservations and had actually received an email from the hotel to make the request at check in. The person who checked us in told me they don't provide extra pillows!!! We were in the Studio Club which was of decent size, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had pretty of space to place my toiletries and we were actually quite satisfied with the room.||||Breakfast was decent coffee was good but wait staff lacked training; no smile and no greetings and why can't they lifted their feet up while walking?||||Location was good and metro was only around the corner. Plenty of restaurants and shops and the world largest Starbucks was only 5 minutes away. Is a mediocre hotel with one saving grace which is...
Read moreA tastefully designed hotel with easy access to 3 metro lines 2 , 12, 13. The closest is exit 1 and 4 of line2. For the other two lines, better find their entrances above ground than trying to access them underground from line2. ||The patching of lights is complicated and irrational, even the hotel staff , who claimed to be new, could not master it. It took me two days before I could figure out a logic of how they operated! It would have been much easier if the light switches had been labelled clearly!||I was booked into a Vogue Studio, with windows facing an enclosed light well. If you want street views, book a higher grade studio. The room is spacious enough for one, with a kitchenette and adequate wardrobe space. The welcome fruit plate and complimentary daily afternoon tea are nice touches. However, there are not enough t.v. channels, not even local news and weather channels. The shower is not...
