Hilton Shanghai City Center - 5 Night Stay||Room - I was told at check in that I had received an upgrade with my room - Daily - Bathroom - No Toothbrush - No Razor - Same Global Body Lotion & Shampoos of a USA Hampton Inn?? Whoa - Not expecting that low level of products - I did not pack any as I expected to have a Hilton level||Pic||Room - Missing Mini Bar Creamer for Coffee being restocked - running short of coffee daily - extra towels and water needed daily with our double occupancy ||Newly installed Hallway Carpet haven’t been vacuumed for two months since opening - leaving little shreds of carpet scraps & fluff balls all over - still laying on the hallway floors||Pic||Hotel Bar - Taking colleagues from China one night to share an after dinner drink left me embarrassed and confused - after I ordered for everyone the bar was unable to accept my request for room charge the hotel bill - as I had not brought my wallet I was forced to ask a colleague to pay the bill leaving me 💯 embarrassed and having lost face||Spa? Yeah no….. lol no recommendations from staff or managers||Then we get to the front desk staff and managers||NEVER in my life with many many years of being a Diamond 💎 Member - I have resumed my regular travels to China post COVID and the life changing death of my youngest teenage son have I been treated so poorly at a Hilton Property……||Hilton and what I have come to know as an amazing International staff and management has served as my life line - my best friend - a comforting family member I can rely on for when things go a little differently than the plan…..,||No more - I arrived to Shanghai after this 4 year hiatus and did not exchange money at the airport - NEVER expecting the situation that arose when arriving to the Hilton - I was told they CANNOT exchange money 💰 ?? - WTF 😳 - so next was the ATM in the lobby - NOT WORKING - WTF 😳 ||I have had years prior to the establishment finally of Hilton to let extra nights in a year rollover where I stayed a 140 nights at Hilton - so sorry - that was prior to rollover - so I haven’t achieved Diamond yet and would not spend the extra $ this trip to upgrade prior to the Executive Lounge. So I do not have anything to say on whether the staff & management attending to customers there have any better social skills than what i experienced on EVERY trip to the front desk asking questions. lol||Trying to get a package of medicine shipped directly to the Hilton - imagine my surprise 😮 to find it is placed into a locker - that even my Chinese partners cannot open||Pic||Need to charge your phone after a 16 hour flight - forget it - try to figure this out||Pic||While WeChat is invaluable in my communications with all my partners and vendors and being in the tech industry - I am not allowed or able to establish a Chinese bank account in order to access my package||Thanks Hilton - lol||In conclusion - Hilton needs to seriously rethink this hotel as it is not up to what I expect at an International Hilton||I have been a Diamond Level at Hilton form many many years and just now starting to travel extensively again after a couple years off - I will continue to book at Hiltons and just hope that this is property is just problematic and not representative of Hilton||Sadly - I have no plans to revisit this Hilton - there are plenty of options that I am sure have a similar feel to the majestic experience of the prior Hilton Shanghai||Happily - I will shout out to a couple amazing Hilton staff & manager for understanding what the Hilton experience should be||Breakfast - Ted Zhang - Breakfast Chef||Breakfast - Sang - Task Force Food & Beverage Floor Manager for Soft Opening||In Summary - Avoid...
Read moreI had booked 2 nights at this property and I will not hesitate to return if I revisit Shanghai.||At check in, I was pleasantly upgraded to the one of their most beautiful deluxe suite by Mr Dexter at reception. He even offered a complimentary extra bed which was a nice gesture for me to end my trip at this cosmopolitan city. The rest of the reception were equally friendly. They wore smiles which warmed the cool weather in Shanghai.||The suite I was allocated was on the 21st floor. It was one of the best suites i have ever received staying at Hiltons all these years. It was expansive with a separate living room, a walkin shower and a bath tub and 2 toilets. I was gobsmacked by the huge size. It was clean and well appointed. Yes, my travel mate could not believe how beautiful the suite was. The bed was so comfortable which warranted a good rest. ||As a diamond member, i got the lounge access. The lounge was another surprise where there was a path to walk in before you get more seatings at the main area. I personally love the small tables and chairs along the pathway. The afternoon tea selection may be limited but they were delicious, both savoury and sweets. There was Nespresso coffee too. Sadly, I was somewhat disappointed with no sparkling water being served. Having said that, the evening cocktail was an eye pleasing feast. While some may mentioned it being mediocre, I would say it was impressive. There were a few hot dishes such as rice, meat and vegetables which could replace a dinner. My mate and I thoroughly enjoyed the pumpkin soup. To make it more interesting, I would say a western dish or two would be even nicer. Coco and her team did a fantastic job. They were brilliant. ||I availed myself for both breakfast and the fare was another gastronomic delight. There were both western and oriental choices. If i am being picky, i would say a freshly pressed juice area would be nice. For both days, i had had very good barista coffee brewed by staff like Shirley, Gary and Wesley. The latter two were both managers and i thought they went beyond to make me an extremely happy guest considering how I love my coffee. They even make me two to go en route to the airport. ||While going out, the bellmen were the great frontiers. One night, before going out, I was being asked to wear thicker clothes seeing me in light clothing as well as informing me the current weather. I thought that was brilliant. ||I may sound bias but i think most staff here were great and exemplary. It would not be fair if i do not mention the GM of this hotel, Mr Solomon Carter who personally came to have a small talk about my experience. Failing to say goodbye in person, he even sent an email to apologise. That little gesture of his is the epitome of hospitality. ||All in all, I had had a stupendous stay at this place and I will not hesitate to return to this property should I am back at Shanghai. ||Xie xie ni, Hilton Shanghai...
Read moreThis was my first time in Shanghai and Hilton property, and unfortunately, my stay at Hilton City Center was a huge disappointment.||Right from the start, check-in was a mess. There was no clear line or signage showing where to queue, and no staff guiding guests on what to do. Instead, staff seemed more focused on telling people not to raise their voices than actually helping. At one point, as I was waiting in what I thought was the right line, a staff member led another guest to cut in front of me. When I pointed out that I was already in line, it was clear the staff didn’t even know where the line started or ended.||It took ages to get a room, even though I had booked and paid through Agoda almost a month in advance. The front desk (Debbie? A girl with a big glasses) had no record of my payment and asked for a full deposit, even though Agoda’s terms didn’t mention this. I was willing to pay a deposit for incidentals, but the confusion was frustrating.||Every request I made was ignored, and it seemed like the hotel didn’t have enough staff to handle bookings from Agoda. Not only were my requests denied, but they didn’t even have a room ready for us. I was told to wait an hour, and after that hour, I was told to wait another hour.||Eventually, I was offered a downgraded room, which was surprising for a Hilton. Then, a manager approved Debbie offerring an “upgraded” room that was actually smaller than what I booked, and we still had to wait another 30 minutes. When I returned to the front desk after waiting an hour, the staff member returned my passport, which she had neglected to return initially. I only accepted the smaller room because my partner was exhausted from our flight and needed to rest.||When we finally got into the room, it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, but we were too tired to complain further.||Luckily, I’m only staying here for two nights before moving to another hotel. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I expected much better from a...
