There are better options in Bogota and loyalty to the Bonvoy program does not justify a stay here. The locations is decent for work trips but not ideal for tourist activities. The Marriott M-Club and gym were especially disappointing.
The M-Club constantly had loud music playing throughout the day that made it seem like a club. It was obnoxious and made the space impossible to get any work done there, even when empty. Unlike many other Marriott', the M-Club was not open for breakfast which meant that even if you had access to the M-club, you needed to use the main restaurant for breakfast, which was often crowded and on more than one occasion, I had to wait for a table. The M-club also had very limited staffing, drink prices were expensive, and only limited complementary offerings were available. It was a miss all the way around, especially compared to other Marriott properties
The gym was equally disappointing. There were multiple pieces of broken equipment when I arrived that were eventually removed but simple items like the bench were often missing only to reappear later. The gym is also very small for the size of the hotel and the limited equipment made it a constant struggle to get a decent workout in. I found another local gym to use for my two week stay. If a gym is an important factor for your hotel stay, look elsewhere.
I previously stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Bogota and that is a significantly better property. Being loyal to Bonvoy, I gave the Marriott a try but even loyalty to the bonvoy program does not justify staying here with better...
Read moreI was disappointed with this Marriott Hotel because they continue to use Covid as an excuse to no provide full service to its customers. I am came to Bogota on business, and I routinely rely on Marriott’s Executive Lounge to conduct my business. Of course when I arrived at the hotel, they informed me that the lounge was closed, but that they would credit me with an extra 1000 points for the inconvenience. But the lounge is more than points, it has a business lounge and conference rooms. So I asked for those benefits and they said that they would allow me to use the business lounge at the hotel. I went to the business lounge, and they were completely out of toner in their printer. My room was in the executive floor, and again due to Covid, they had removed the coffee machine and hot water carafe in the room. Unfortunately, since the lounge was close, I couldn’t go there to get a cup of coffee or tee anytime. So I went to the front desk to complain and let them know that I would be checking out in the morning because they were using Covid as an excuse not to provide the services Marriott normally provides. This is when they offered me an executive dinner since the lounge was close. So the question is, why didn’t they offer that in the beginning? Again, it confirms that they are trying to save money on services, and using Covid as an excuse. So, I did check out the next morning, and transferred to another Marriott property within walking distance of the Marriott, which has an operating lounge, and offers full services...
Read moreStayed for 5 nights at this hotel. Upon check-in, was greeted by Fabian and felt very welcomed as an elite member. Was given a room at the club floor. Since the club is closed, was given breakfast and dinner at the restaurant.
The room was a bit small, but upscale. It had a plush bed, a 50 inch TV, safe, and minibar with snacks and drinks. It was very clean and comfortable. Had no issues sleeping. The bathroom was nice and had upscale pharmacopeia and thann bath products. I found the shower to be a little weak and it took some time to get hot water. However, it was clean and did its job .
The service is what makes a Marriott a Marriott. It was personal and everyone was treated like a VIP. The front desk was able to answer any questions I had and provide assistance when needed. The restaurant always greeted me with a smile and was prompt in getting my food and drinks ready. Even the private security greeted me with a smile and allowed me to pet the security dog smelling the bags for explosives.
The food was very delicious and plentiful at their Italian restaurants. I took advantage of their breakfast and enjoyed their omelettes. I only took dinner once, and enjoyed a Caesar salad, beef tenderloin, and ice cream. Wine was also included and was in great quality.
I overall found Marriott to be a solid 5 star hotel in the Bogota Airport area. With the very nice rooms, excellent service, and amazing food, this is indeed a great choice to be near...
