Did a 5 night pleasure trip in Bogota and decided to use my award points for the Sheraton Bogota. It was 55,000 pts for the whole 5 days, which I found to be a great deal.
Even before my stay at the hotel, a friendly Facebook agent helped me arrange my free hotel shuttle and told me where to meet. Once I arrived to the airport, I was able to find the destination point where a friendly Sheraton agent told me it will take about 10-15 minutes for the shuttle to come. The shuttle came a bit later than the estimate, but was still a comfortable shuttle with a friendly and helpful driver. The drive took about 10 minutes to the hotel and was greeted to a nice entrance with a small waterfall and fountain outside and the revolving and manual doors to the inside of the hotel. There was not much of a line and a friendly agent gave me a welcome drink and checked me in within 10 minutes. As a platinum member, I was given the club floor (10), which had access to the club lounge.
When I entered the room, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a little bigger than I thought it would be (about 300 sqft actual). The room was very clean had the needed amenities for a business class hotel. There was a very comfortable king bed, 40+ inch tv, 2 chairs, and a small working desk. The closet had ironing board and safe. However, the safe was not working, which was not a major issue for me. The window gave a nice view of the small plaza and office buildings. Was able to sleep well in the bed, but occasionally the noise of the airplanes did make it a little difficult.
The bathroom was also very clean and was the perfect size for me. The shower had very nice water pressure, but occasionally took some time for the water to warm up. The toiletries was the typical Sheraton Le Grand Bain brand, which I just enjoy their scent (soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash). There were also razor, combs, tooth brush as well. The housekeeping does a great job restocking the supplies and keeping the room clean.
The lobby was quite nice with ample check in areas, comfy chairs, and good restaurants. The was a convention area in the back with ample meeting and ball rooms. Really enjoyed the chillax lounge music that was played here. Loved the glass elevators, but did find the card readers to break often to go to the floors. The pool and exercise room required a different elevator, which I had difficulty finding at first. But it was nice with a good sized pool and some treadmills, steppers, and bikes facing the pool. Another area had some weights and machines as well as yoga mats and balls. There was a small spa with message options. I did take the 80 minute massage for 45 dollars. The massage was fine, but ended up getting about 50 minutes instead (cut short by 30 minutes). Also, the message was by a 3rd party, so was not able to receive reward points for it. Also in the lobby was a small jewelry store and currency exchange. While the rate was ok, if you go towards the plaza, there are some with slightly better rates.
There were a couple restaurants including a sushi restaurant, a small coffee shop, and a buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner. While I didn't eat at any of those restaurants, I did enjoy the breakfast and dinner at the 10th floor club lounge. For breakfast, there were plenty of fruits, pastries, cereals, hot items, coffee/tea, and natural juices. There was even an omelette and eggs station, which is rare at a club lounge. During the evenings (6 to 8), there were various hor d'oeuvres and small dessert items. The variety of food was quite generous as well that I didn't even need to go to a restaurant for dinner. The taste and quality of food was very good and the attendants were very attentive and helpful.
The staff was very friendly and attentive, though some spoke very limited English. Best to use a translator.
Overall, I had an excellent stay and would consider staying at the...
Read moreJust finished staying at this hotel for a week on business. I wouldn't call the hotel awful but it does need a few things upgraded to get up to the Sheraton standard. Things that I was irated about was the hotel has no ATM. I got in late one night and couldn't even get peso's to tip my bell hop. The front desk will not convert money because theymdon't carry that much cash on hand. When I called the hotel to tell them I would be VERY late due to,plane delay the operator REFUSED to,transfer me to,the front desk then she could not understand English. I had to three way a call from my daughter-in-law who is from Colombia to make sUre they didn't give my room away. The Hotel enterance.........my driveway to my home is bigger and more impressive (which isn't saying much) Personally beds were way too hard, the shower design for my room #726'was a joke. The shower door only opens halfway and on one side. The shower head is on that same side of the door opening yet the hot/cold knobs are on the other side of the shower. So you have to get in to turn it on and if your not REAL fast you'll get hit with the shower water (see picture below). I understand that not every room was designed this way as we had 7 people here with rooms however THIS one was reserved for PLATINUM members like myself....I pity what the people get that aren't so SPECIAL. OH another thing about my favorite shower. I,leaks and when you get out there is a puddle of water on the floor which is why I presume they put a drian in the floor.....REALLY?? I did have problems with the Internet but they came up and fixed that immediately with a portable hotspot. Breakfast was very impressive in the restaurant or the "club floor". Bottom line I would rate this hotel slightly below STARWOOD standards and above average for normal hotels because it...
Read moreThis Sheraton Bogota hotel does not disappoint. For starters, this hotel is 10 minutes away from the airport and they offer free airport pick up and drop off. I notified them of my arrival information and when I got in, I went outside and there they were holding a Sheraton sign. When it was time for me to leave, I went to the lobby and voila the was a shuttle waiting to whisk me away. Note: the shuttle runs every 20 minutes.
The staff were all very friendly and the room I stayed in was clean and modern. I slept like a baby! The in room Internet was fast and reliable. The complimentary breakfast was a great perk. I got to try Colombian dishes for breakfast like arepas and lulo and feijoa juice on top of the usual egg and toast breakfast.
The only downside was that the location was a bit boring. This hotel is located on the same block as other international hotel chains and private condos and apartments but there is just nothing to do. However, there's much worse things in life and the hotel can call you a reliable taxi to whisk you away to La Candeleria or the north of Bogota for some exploring.
Helpful tip: if you are a foreigner staying in Colombia for a short period of time, you don't need to pay the 16% IVA tax. Just make sure to notify the front desk when you check in. They will scan a copy of your passport and the page where your Colombian visa/stamp is. Then you just have to sign an additional form exempting you from the IVA.
The only thing that I noticed that could be improved upon is the SPG recognition. Also, I am not 100% sure if I got an upgrade on my room at check-in. I was able to utilize the late check-out without any problem so that's...
