It was my worst hotel stay in my entire life. After a 12-hour flight, I expect to get some sleep (especially in a hotel that has "airport" in its name). During check-in I was given room number 320. It was a room with two queen size beds but I had a room with one king size bed in my booking. I did not report it to the reception because it was not a problem for me. The trouble started late in the evening. It turned out that the room I got was right above the "ballroom" where an ordinary club party was taking place with music so loud that glasses were shaking in the room. It was something terrible terrifying. Not only extremely loud music but also a wild scream through the microphone. In these conditions, it was impossible to stay in this room and certainly not to sleep! At 1 am I couldn't stand it any longer. I went down to the front desk to tell what was going on. I spoke with Yair and Oscar (they didn't want to give their names). They said there was a prived party (I have attached video of what the "party" was like - it was just a regular nightclub with loud music in the middle of an airport hotel!!!) and they would try to turn the music down. But nothing like that happened. There was still loud music. Only after a dozen or so minutes of discussion and the threat of calling the police, they offered to move to another room number 710. In this room there was no music and it had a king size bed (that is what I had originally booked). I really cannot understand how the staff, knowing that in room 320 I will have such atrocious inhumane conditions, gave me this room knowing that they have a FREE QUIET 710. I am terribly sorry for this and I am sad about it. Imagine how humiliating it is to move in at 1:30 a.m. to another room after a 12 hour flight. In the morning they offered me a free breakfast as an apology which I couldn't use anyway as I had a very early flight at 8:39 a.m. The only thing I wanted was to sleep in the airport hotel before continuing the hard journey. This situation ruined my next whole day. Response from General Menager of the hotel to my complaint: „As a very small compensation for your terrible night, we’ll like to offer one complimentary weekend night for your next visit to Bogota”. This is a joke - I will never stay at this hotel again and I advise you to...
Read moreWorm found into the fruit served in the breakfast. When I was finishing my fruit based breakfast, a worm was found into a piece of fruit, alive and in movement, immediately informed this to the service’s people, they offered me apologies and some hours after they offered a free lunch into the restaurant. I don’t know the local laws in Colombia but I am absolutely right that in USA this can be enough reason for a lawsuit with enough reason to gain that case. This is an issue directly related with the health of the customers. I requested to they inform this issue direct with the executive chef.
I decided to take the free lunch; even knowing that case of healthy violation explained above, I’ve decided to provide them a 2nd chance, but all get worst. I’ve ordered a beverage from the bar, due to the location of the tables; you have an open view of the bartender. The issue was that when he prepared my beverage he used a spoon to flavor the sugar on it, he use the same spoon twice and going directly to his mouth. This mean that I drink that beverage with the bartender’s spit. As per my experience into high class restaurants (what you expect from the hotel’s restaurants) the normal action is to use different spoons or put the sample in your hand and not direct into your mouth. (this was confirmed by the executive chef when I’ve informed him about this)
Due to my long day in work, I decided to order a room service one night, I ordered a club sandwich, this was served with some ketchup and mayonnaise’s packages, by my surprise the mayonnaise was expired already. I have a picture of this and I’ve informed this to the executive chef as well but it seems that the chef was not in charge of the food served at room service due to he was not interested at all on this issue.
I've tried several times to enter the claim through the IHG website but it seems that those claim going direct to local hotel and of course they did not contact me at all.
I am frequent user of IHG hotelsm but the only city when i avoid to stay in IHG is Bogota, be careful when you planning to stay in Bogota and if you decide to go to this hotel keep an eye open and you will notice this...
Read moreI had a corporate booking at this property. Due to a change in schedule, I left Mexico several hours early, and arrived at 2am.. Typically when a hotel receives a very frequent guest (eg Platinum/spire member with IHG) They will charge 50% of the rate and allow the guest to check in early when its well past midnight..
This property didn't want to offer this, and that's ok.. Lets start with the free shuttle.. It never came.. I had to pay an overpriced taxi to get to the hotel.. Although I wasn't offered the half rate I was told that I would just pay around double my rate for the two nights, and that worked for me. The next morning I was informed that I was being charged double my rate for the several hour stay, and my reserved rate for the next night.. So essentially being charged three nights for 1 and a half.. I wasn't too pleased, and I assumed it was a communication error... So I told them to fix it, and I stayed elsewhere, as I wasn't too pleased with the Customer service. I was promised a resolution by the evening.. It NEVER came.. Several days later I was informed that what's done is done. The hotel in general is ok.. The breakfast was lacking, they stopped restocking 30 minutes prior to closing it.. As for service you heard my story.. There are plenty hotels around the airport who never ripped me off.. Skip the Holiday Inn.. They just might overcharge you, and due to rules with VISA/MC and hotels, it will be a pain to take your money back from these thieves.. It's sad because Bogota is a great city with great hotels.. This one in particular made a terrible impression, and doesn't...
