Avoid at all costs! Terrible check in experience. This is how it went: arrived at Hotel Santa Barbara Real where I had initially booked my room, the receptionist came up with a weird excuse that bookings had a sync issue with the booking platforms which meant he didn't have a room available (pre paid via credit card) and asked me to go to another "sister hotel" 300 mts away. Having no option, I agreed and went to the 2nd hotel (Hotel Black Usaquén) I was promised on my way out from 1st to 2nd hotel that check-in would be a breeze and I would be given a room key upon arrival. Arrived to hotel black with a queue of 4 people checking in and a single employee at front desk. Took 30 minutes for them to get to check me in with the most rude, unfriendly and unprofessional attitude. When paying for parking they had no change so in frustration of an hour lost, I asked them to keep the change. Then multiple calls to my room asking them for booking confirmation. Check out was a similar experience. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone at all. They...
Read moreThe hotel location is excellent, however, the hotel itself is not. I booked a “luxury” room, which ended up being on the top floor, with a balcony that had a 5 feet tall brick wall as a barrier, so you couldn’t have any views of the city, just a view of the sky. I was given a different room after I expressed disappointment with the lack of view, but all the rooms have a black painted ceiling and very dated wood paneling walls, which make rooms dark even during the day. The WIFI Is TERRIBLE, so if you’re thinking of doing any work from your room, you might as well forget it. I could have dealt with the dark room, but not the lack of efficient internet. The breakfast is bad and so is the personnel at the kitchen and dining area. They are rude and don’t allow a guest to bring breakfast upstairs to the room to a guest who is ill and can’t go to the dining area. However the front desk personnel are very helpful and polite. This hotel needs some major renovation in every single category and personnel training. I WILL NOT stay in this...
Read moreTruly a gem for what it is. I've stayed in 3-star hotels all over USA and Canada and absolutely none of them can beat Hotel Santa Barbara Real in quality or value. I got a deal through TLX travel and spent $95 USD for four nights. The room had basic amenities and was simple but recently updated and very clean. The staff were very courteous and helpful, and the breakfast staff were absolutely amazing. The breakfast was wonderful, fresh Columbian coffee, juice, tea, and made to order eggs, toast, cereal... truly an unparalleled experience for those of us who are used to 3-star hotels in North America. Try the happy hour in the Italian restaurant... 3 beers or wine with a medium pizza for $7 USD! The neighbourhood feels quite safe, and is a 10 minute walk from an amazing cultural centre, Usaquen Park, with lots of restaurants and cafes with a great street market Saturday-Monday. Only a 30 minute ($10) Uber ride from all the major Bogota...
