Hotel NH Cali Boulevard del Río — Hotel in Cali

This hotel was incredible. My grandmother and I had to travel to Cali urgently due to the funeral of a dear aunt. It was awful circumstances, and by pure chance we’d discovered that this building had been renovated and converted into a hotel.

The building itself has a special place in my grandmother’s heart and memory, as it had been the location where her grandfather had lived during her childhood as a member of the Caicedo Roa family. I wrote the hotel about the trip and let them know that my grandmother had a history with the building—asking specifically if we could get her a room with a balcony view since that’s what she remembers most fondly of her childhood visits to this location.

The care we received from the hotel staff was phenomenal.

The entire crew was so excited to meet someone who had enjoyed the building in its early days, and to let my grandmother know that she was welcome back home. Her room had a balcony view, and she was ecstatic to visit the spot where she would have English tea with her grandfather as a child. My room was next to hers, and was clean, comfy, and (mercifully) had fantastic air-conditioning (a must in Cali).

Per her request, I leave my grandmother’s review below: Escribe desde Bogotá Victoria Eugenia Wilson-White para expresar al NH Hotel Boulevard del Rio, a todo su personal, y con especial deferencia a Petra y a Mabel por la cálida, afectuosa y emocionada bienvenida que nos brindaron a mi nieta Violeta y a mí al enterarse de que el abuelo John Wilson-White y su esposa Celmira Caicedo de Wilson-White habían vivido allí durante muchos años, y de niña, con mi familia, ¡lo visitábamos frecuentemente!

Recorrer los espacios que me fueron tan cercanos fue muy emocionante para mí, pues vinieron a mi memoria lindos recuerdos como aquél de siguiendo la tradición inglesa del abuelo, tomar el té a las 5 pm en el balcón del segundo piso.

Realmente nos hicieron sentir como en nuestra casa y muchas gracias por las deliciosas frutas.

El edificio fue construido por la familia Caicedo Roa para que todos los hermanos vivieran allí en unión y solidaridad, e inicialmente tuvo el nombre de la familia Caicedo Roa.

Valoro inmensamente del Hotel el especial reconocimiento a la historia de este querido inmueble y comprender que los espacios físicos tienen vida propia, recuerdos, vivencias, y afectos.

I stayed at NH Boulevard del Río Cali for three nights (Feb 11-14, 2025) as a solo traveler and had a great experience. The room was clean, spacious, and well-air-conditioned. The bed was comfortable, and the desk was perfect for getting some work done on my laptop.

One small thing to note—if you take a hot shower, make sure to keep the bathroom door closed! I accidentally set off the smoke alarm due to steam, but that was on me.

The hotel is quiet, especially if you get an interior room. One of the best features is the open-air central area—when the weather is nice, they open the retractable roof, making breakfast a really enjoyable experience.

The only downside is that the hotel doesn’t offer parking for visitors, but there is parking available nearby.

Very nice and friendly staff. Complementary fruit, flavored water, and sweets in the lobby. Meat centric food on the first floor that you can order there or have delivered to your room. The rooms were very large and bed super comfortable. Felt very luxurious. Had a separate room off the bathroom for getting dressed which included a wardrobe and a comfortable chair. I would say it was big enough for a single bed to fit which was kind of a wow factor for me. Everything was modern and very clean. Huge shower that could easily accommodate 2 people and very modern finishes I would expect in a high end hotel in the USA.
