We went to this place because we could not find something that seemed to be better value for money. This hostel was okay, but be prepared to expect to stay in a hostal with a hotel atmosphere. There is a small kitchen to cook in if you want to. They do not serve breakfast. It is no backpackers place. The staff is friendly, but nothing special. When we asked for assistance to book a tour, we were send to a place on the street. Room was perfectly clean, but the aricon (although is was new) did not work during 1 night. We asked for assistance three times but the boy who worked there during the night did not know how to solve the problem. Next day, we told a woman from the reception but she did not take it really seriously. The only thing she said was that the airconditioning was new so it was unlikely that it had not worked. Thanks!! Aircon is a must in Cartagena so it was unpleasant. Final comment: we asked the first day if we could stay longer and that was okay. However a day later all of a sudden it was not possible anymore. They arranged another hotel for us but Tripadvisor reviews of that hotel were not very good so we decided to go...

Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights over the new year. It's clear that this this a new hostel - the beds are very comfortable, the place is very clean and the rooms are cleaned every day. Very friendly staff and great security. We booked it because it was almost the only decent place we could find in Cartagena in our price range over the new year. The neighborhood is good, convenient walking distance to the Old City and Castillo San Felipe. We even walked about 30 min to Bocagrande one day. Getsemaní is a nice neighborhood that is a refreshing break from the very touristy Old City. ||4 stars for a few reasons - First, I felt over USD 70/night for our clean, but very basic room was way too much, but that seems to be Cartagena in the high season. Also, We had a room in the front and I had trouble sleeping every night we were there (even with ear plugs!) because of the festivities in the street that went on til 4 or 5 in the morning. Club Havana and another discotech are very close as well, and I suspect contribute to the noise. This was likely due to the new year celebrations and there wasn't anything the hostel...
