This hotel could be a calm oasis in a hectic old town, but there are a couple of things that pull it down from being a top class hotel.
The main issue is that they play music all day from before 9am until well after sunset. I took this video at 9:15 (a waterfall covers the volume of it a little). My room was just opposite this speaker so it’s virtually impossible to sleep through, let alone to have a nap in the middle of the day. These speakers are distributed throughout the hotel in all public spaces (including the jacuzzi) so good luck finding peace and quiet away from the music during the day & early evening.
Interestingly another reviewer, not a guest but staying next to the hotel, has complained about the volume of the music on the roof pool terrace, and I completely get it. Hotel management has responded bizarrely (kindof gaslighting) as it doesn’t take a scientist to agree that the music is loud and relentless.
Another issue is the breakfast which consists of a fruit plate, coffee, juice, water and one choice from a breakfast menu. If you want two items there’s an extra charge (what charge? you don’t know as the menu is unpriced). For a quality hotel this all seems a bit mean spirited.
The hotel itself is beautiful and has been interestingly converted, and parts are really fabulous. My room was on the ground floor right off a circulation space with tables and chairs, so not exactly a light filled haven but that’s the way with tricky old buildings. The hotel looks like a luxury oasis on paper but in reality, through management decisions, it’s less than that. Maybe they’re trying to appeal to a...

It is top notch, meticulously clean, tastefully-decorated and maintained. Modernity meets history. It’s in the centre without being right in the centre on a quieter part of an otherwise busy street.
From the check-in point, the warm welcome and exceptional hospitality and professionalism was illustrated, with Jose ensuring we had everything we needed, and Jean-Pierre offering us refreshing martinis to toast our stay.
Every floor and nook is meticulously well-kept and clean.
We were very tired on our first night in, so we opted to order some dinner items from their menu and enjoy them in the small, open air plaza in the middle of the hotel. All of the menu items could easily have been found at a 4-star restaurant - delicious and well-plated as well.
The other food on their menus are excellent - from their generous breakfasts where you’ll often find a friendly, smiling Erick eager to serve, and even Carlos’ pina colada (best ever!) on the rooftop!
There was nothing left to be desired - all of the staff were proactive, thoughtful and attentive, and took care of everything we needed, and even things we didn’t think of!
To Jose, Carlos, Erick, Jean-Pierre, Wilson, Elaine and anyone we may have missed…. Muchas gracias, and much success to this establishment. We look forward to...
Read moreThis is a real review!. AMAZING! The food, the staff, the location, the hotel. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. The staff went above and beyond to make this a memorial trip for my husband’s birthday. Even surprised him with decorations and a cake at breakfast. The food at the hotel was some of the best I have had while in Colombia. The staff were all so nice and accommodating. The location is a round the corner from the action, quiet, but still close enough to it all. The hotel was clean and beautiful. I can’t express enough how great the stay was here. The pool is spacious and on the rooftop. Our flight left at 3am and the staff arranged for our cab to be there at checkout at 1:30 am. I felt completely safe during the stay. I can’t tell you enough how the staff here were so kind and made sure everything was good for us. They are fabulous, every last one of them. From the front desk staff, to the bartenders, restaurant hosts and housekeepers, everyone was fantastic. I have no complaints and will definitely stay here again. You will not be disappointed staying...
