Satisfied with my Cartagena Self Tour on Sunday, I entered Nia to reward myself with Cake, Ice Cream and a shot of Rum. I started my morning in Getsemani to find Santa Catalina Cathedral to center myself. I walked towards the Atlantic Ocean, saw an officer standing in the area, asked him if I can walk on the Avenue. He agreed, but do cross the Avenue here, apparantly it gets busier further down. I walked on the paved path with the ocean waves warning me on my left that they can soak me. I was carrying a waterproof bag to hold my valuables under my long loose jacket/dress. The hot sun will dry my wet clothes and I was wearing sneakers. Yes, the waves blessed me, I tasted the salty water on my face and heard laughter from strangers that witness my moment. I reached the beach with the Cartagena Colorful Letters and Sand Castle Sculpture. I sipped on a straw to enjoy a water coconut, as I viewed the beach with happy playfull children. Later, I crossed the Avenue to walk towards La Serrezuela, an upscale mall. Bought a childrens linen shirt with a softly painted design to wear to the airport when I return home. Yes, I fit in a childrens size 14-16. Walked to La Mulata for a Colombian lunch, continued to Plaza de Santo Domingo to see a cultural dance performance. Someone very popular with the locals was in the area. Security kept him safe, but I witnessed the strong energy of popularity. I dared to get close enough to video tape the popularity. Walked to Plaza Bolivar to see more cultural dancing. Nia is an upscale bakery and coffee shop. I sat peacefully in the back watching the people. The woman across me was busy working on her laptop. Another woman on my left busy with something. Further in the center of the room, a group of friends exchanging...
Read moreThis place came so highly recommended. It was nice but we were expecting to have more options for breakfast. Also, you really need to make reservations. It was booked all morning into early afternoon but they said we could wait for an opening. Fortunately it was only about 15min. They have lots of gourmet pastries that looked spectacular. We had a couple items and enjoyed them but we really wanted more of a breakfast. Our fault for not looking more closely at the menu before we arrived. They were quite busy and it took a while before they even offered coffee. Then we had to get someone's attention to take our food order. I understand when a place is busy, but they should at least acknowledge you and say they will help when they can. Once we got service, they were just pleasant enough. We had the same problem when trying to pay. It really was a cute little bakery with amazing gourmet pastries. Just don't go there expecting to have a large breakfast to carry you through a long day of...
Read moreHonestly didn't live up to the hype. Great ideas but poor execution and expensive.
We had the beef focaccia, there was LOTS of beef, its filling. However that was all. Very very very little watermelon in it and then nothing else. The base of the sandwich becomes soggy quickly. I think it needs a rethink - watermelon or fruit puree instead or more gravy? More watermelon? Herbs on the focaccia?
The ham and cheese croissant was nice but expensive and nothing special to any id had before.
The luco tart wasnt very special either, flowers on top didn't taste good and there was some very watery consistency as soon as I cut it which poured out of the tart. Felt very underwhelming.
Pink smoothie was great. Interior was beautiful. Coffee was nice but I've had better in CTG.
I think for the prices, tap water should be offered immediately without having to ask and refilled when needed. This attention would make it feel a little more worth the...
