I stayed there three nights and days in a business travel to Medellín. My experience with this hotel was twofold; I’ll try to make it short: when I arrived at the hotel they gave me a room in front of the kitchen and by the side of a storage room. I asked for a change and the answer of Fernando (the person in the front desk) was: “there are no other rooms available; if you want, I can help you to look for another hotel.” I asked if the room was quiet at night, and he said, “sure!” And I believed him. Big mistake: You listen every time someone gets into the hotel, the TV set in the living, and every conversation the people at the front desk have. In the morning, at 6:00, the sounds coming from the kitchen will wake you up, and just outside my window there was a woman folding tablecloths and having a conversation with someone else… ||||The next day in the morning I noticed there was another person in a desk near the front desk, I guess the manager (can’t remember his name). He was very kind, asked about how was my night, I told him about the noise, etc., and asked for a room change; he immediately looked in the computer and told me there were some guests leaving that day, and said he could give me a room in the third floor that afternoon; and even said they could move my bags to that new room once it was available, so when I arrive at evening everything would be there. The person in the front desk said that if he himself couldn’t move my bags (depending on the time the room was ready), the guy from the next turn would do it.||||When I arrived that evening, there was Fernando again in the front desk. He gave me the key to the room in the first floor without looking at me; I said I had understood they were going to change my room; he said he didn’t know about it but handed me the key to the room in the third floor!! I asked if he knew if my bags were moved to the third floor and he said he didn’t know, and went to the room in the first floor. When he returned he said: “your bags are still in the room in the first floor; you can grab them and take them to your new room in the third floor”… All of this without looking at me in the eye at any time!!||||In short: the hotel is OK; it’s near to Avenida 70 where you can find restaurants and bars, and enjoy the night life at a reasonable price; it’s a safe zone; the hotel is a good option if you travel in a budget; don’t expect luxuries at all. It’s noisy if you stay in the first floor; other than Fernando you will receive a very...
Read moreFirst impression was good but it started vanishing as soon as I checked in...||||The location is very good, close to metro station, restaurants, supermarket. The staff were in general very helpful and friendly (lent me an umbrella one day, asked about my hospital visits).||||The first room I stayed in, with the window to the aisle, was spacious and had a comfortable bed. However, it was noisy and during a big rain the ceiling was leaking!! When I returned after a 3-day trip, I got an upgrade in the room. This time I had a balcony and even a jacuzzi (although I was told it didn't work). This room was quieter despite facing the street. In both rooms I noticed stains in bed linen and towels.||||Breakfast is very simple and not filling at all. Wifi was unstable.||||I paid the standard room rate even though the price I got in booking.com was less (I didn't realize that at first and I didn't complain because I had already paid and I finally got the complimentary room upgrade). In any case, I think the price doesn't match...
Read moreWe booked 3 hotels for our extended stay in Medellin. Hotel Quinta Avenida was our second one. The hotel is on a side street less than a block away from carrera 70 the street in the heart of our favorite area, Laureles. The area is full of restaurants and very safe to walk around. The metro is six block away, about 6 minutes walk. Rooms vary in size but the all have air conditioning. We got a large room in the front, very clean but the street noise at night was a bit high. We asked to change rooms and they moved us to a room on the back, very quite. Breakfast is included, not extensive (chose eggs or corn flakes/grenola) fruit, croissant, fresh orange juice and coffee but absolutely sufficient (consider that the hotel is quite unexpensive for western standards) The staff is very nice and helpfull. We decided to cancell the third booking and stay...
