I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Medellin, they offer NO kitchen appliances in the apartment, must request even a soup spoon, Blender, bums everywhere asking for money, can hear everything through walls, Horrible CS, maid can only clen twice a week, even if you offer to pay them...You have to request, blender, coffee maker, cutting board, ALL kitchen utensils, Bathroom light is outside of the bathroom. If you are hungry after 10pm, NO vending machine or restaurant to buy a snack, NO kitchen or late night bar. My mother had came from Spain and stayed at the hotel across the street. She arrived at 930pm, We went to come up to my apartment as it was much bigger then hers and the front desk would not allow us entry to sit and conversate with my mother and family, we had to go outside and sit at the closed church to talk, My own mother of 75 years of age, they did not allow entry because it was after 9pm. I was so close to leaving but I had already paid the month. On top of that the restaurant they do have (More like a cafe) the person that is mainly there (A female) has the worst attitude ever, never smiles and you can tell she hates her job. The elevator was broken, Although I am a big tipper, I had to wait til after it was fixed to get my breakfast which is highly over priced, Hot water and cold water is impossible to fix, gets really hot and really cold, Aside from the church being right in front of the hotel and you have to hear the 50 seconds of the loudest CHURCH bell in Colombian history for a good 50 seconds 20 mins til the hour, every hour. You also have bums, all around always asking for money, I mean everywhere. One night I had walked out and it was about 1130, I went to the drug store for Dolex and medicine for my son who was running a fever, I came back and there was no front desk clerk and the HUGE doors were locked. Not sure where he went but I was literally stuck outside with my cell phone, wallet and bums, motorcycles riding by, the street is pretty dark at this time, Thankfully I am a pretty intimidating man but anyone else should be scared at this moment, I was easy prey for anyone looking at a good quick score. I was out there for a good 10 mins. The receptionist came back smiling, laughing as I said something in English and he brused it off smiling, it was not funny. The closets DO NOT close properly, you have to make sure the sock drawer in perfectly closed for the closet to close. The walls are super thin and they have AIR vents that go into the hall way, I could hear couples having sex at least 4 times a week. It was like a sexual orchestra usually at the same time I would go to the gym every morning. So if you plan on coming with your wife or partner or even having company make sure you know that everyone will be listening to your early morning un-holys.. Now, Washer and Dryer, biggest scam to date, they have 2 washers and 2 dryers, for the entire building approx 8 flights x 5 apartments each floor x 2 guests average that is 80 people to share these machines but they are NOT free 1 wash is $15,000 pesos of exact change if you put a $20k bill you will lose the other $5k, you must pay each time you use each machine so its a $30K each wash with tiny little washer and dryers and the worst part is it closes at 7pm and opens at 9am, So you cant do therapeutic washing at 9pm or 11pm, has to be within there hours and you must pay each time. sometimes you have to get in line as others are washing and drying before you. Floor gets super dirty super fast, and you can only have a maid come twice a week, Mr. Jonnathan Pinzón told me that even if I paid a maid here extra she could not do it another day. He claims to be the administrator, If I owned this building he would be the first person terminateed for not allowing my mother to come upstairs with her grandson, my wife and I after traveling from Spain. I travel alot and for the $4,700 Million I paid here, I would never ever come here again, you can find way nicer and accomodating spots anywhere but here. One final thing all the TVs mounted on the walls use the same controller so expect someone to be changing your netflix channel all the time, it happens 5 to10 times a night. You have to literally shut off the TV and wait until that person has selected his show so you can continue to enjoy yours which reminds me in the 2 months I stayed here because it was during December, everything was booked, I got 1 noise complaints due to my son and I watching a movie on December 24th Xmas eve, I couldnt believe it, a neighbor complained on us for watching a movie, thats how thin the walls are here. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT stay at this hotel. I would give it less then 1 star as it was that bad. The only good thing they have here are the maids who poor girls, you can tell they are over worked and they actually go above and beyond their call of duty , Over worked and underpaid. That is what this...
Read moreI stayed here with a friend during the week of New Year's, so it was more expensive than other times of the year.|With that said, it was one of the cheaper apartment stays in an excellent location.||Just 2 blocks away from La 70 - the lively avenue with restaurants, bars, and clubs. About a 12min walk to the metro station.||The kitchen was ok. The fridge worked, but dripped water onto the floor. The breakfast bar was convenient. Microwave worked. I did not use the stove.||The beds were full-size and surprisingly comfortable compared to the hard slabs usually found in Colombia. |The closet shelves were clean and nice. ||The bathroom was adequate with a decent-sized shower, spray, and hot water. The bathroom had a window.||Wi-Fi was excellent. A/C worked, but had some issues.||Key card is used for the elevator and room entry. It is also used to power the appliances in the room.||No breakfast, but there was a small convenience store, pharmacy, and bakery on the corner, and the Exito La 70 grocery store is a 3-min walk away. |||CONs:|I stayed in a King Suite (a studio apt) and the space was adequate, but I would have liked a small table or desk just to have more counter space.||The A/C started making a clicking sound at night and would stop working. I would turn it off for a little while and then turn it back on, and it seemed to work. I told the front desk, but it was New Year's Eve, so maintenance wasn't available. We just prayed it would keep working a few more days, and it did.||No breakfast. There were only a few dishes and cups, which was fine, but there weren't any sponges, rags, or dish soap to clean them.||TV was small with few channels.||The hotel is on the same street as the Iglesia San Joaquin, so loud bells, singing, and masses can be heard all day. Someone was singing at the top of his lungs for hours on New Year's Day. At night,...
Read moreLiked · We liked the location, quiet for a city yet close to a lot of restaurants, bars and public transportation. There is a nice grocery store and breakfast places within steps when you need coffee in the morning. We found the coffee across the street to be the best and the family working there were sweet as honey. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and clean and fresh looking. (Though, the cleaning ladies need to clean the balconies so you don't walk dirt into the room from the balcony.) Bed and pillows are fantastic. When we go to Medellin this is where we will stay. I saw negative reviews for this hotel on Tripadvisor about noise and no utensils for the kitchen. As for noise it was not innordinate for a city. Those wo complain maybe should not book rooms in a city of 4 milion people. Maybe we were lucky having quiet guests on our floor, but we would not hesitate to ask noisy guests to be respectful. As for appliances etc. for the kitchen. When we checked in we were presented an extensive list of items we could request. We filled out the form and had an iron and board, cutting board and knife and a corkscrew and wine glasses delivered within minutes. I would like to thank the staff for their exceptional service.||Disliked · They do not clean the balconies. Their is a vent to the hallway which allows noise from the hall to enter the room. Unless there is some building code preventing it, those should be able to be closed. It would also save on energy bills. Luckily there were mostly quiet people on our floor so it was a very small issue. Sharpen the knives for the kitchen. The drywall could use some repair and the walls need to be cleaned in a few areas. The painters were sloppy getting paint on things that should not be painted. ( bathroom fixtures and headboard for example ) But all in all we really...
