Tirrena Pasta — Restaurant in Medellín

I’m not sure I understand the other reviews, but using words/phrases like “best pasta,” “amazing!” “most authentic,” etc just aren’t true. The food is fine, not fantastic. it’s average pasta that you can find at a number of other average spots around the city including in Laureles and Envigado.

It’s a small, narrow place (like a handful of spots in Manila) with nothing fancy about the decor or the environment in general. It’s very plain. One thing about dining in a place like this in this area like Manila is that you WILL be harassed by street people. I sat for about 50 minutes and had beggars, musicians, dancers, and noise pretty much the entire time. If you’re a traveler, this may seem novel. If you’ve gotten over it, it becomes annoying.

I can honestly say that this was the first pasta dish I loved since I've been in Colombia for over a year. The food arrived hot, flavorful and the pasta was as fresh as can be. Only one out of ten places I review do I give the rating that I give this restaurant.

The only thing was...while I and my date we're finishing up our meal the staff began to put away the chairs and tables as it was getting close to closing time. if they would have waited five minutes more we would have been gone and they would have have received a larger tip. We had a booking in this tiny, casual restaurant. It took the only other person in the restaurant to get the waiter to acknowledge our arrival after 5 minutes (rather strange in such a small space). The waiter never came over to our table despite walking past while the group outside was paying. We waited 15 more minutes without any service/acknowledgement (again strange because there was only a group of 2 left and they were eating) before we got up and left.
