Unfortunately, my stay at this hostel was a a bad experience. I had made a reservation for a private room via email two weeks prior to arrival, but when I arrived, they said they had overbooked and that there were only dorm beds available. I really didn't want to stay in the dorm, that's why I made a reservation. The manager/man in charge that day wasn't very apologetic, but was instead rather busy making out with his girlfriend in the common area. The girl at reception, however, was lovely and she called some other hotels, but everything was fully booked. So I had to stay in the dorm, which has bathrooms in the same room as the beds. This means that you hear people walking in and out or brushing teeth all night. The next night, there was a private room available. Here, like in the dorm, the shower was not really a shower but a small, dripping stream. The airco leaked water on my luggage and the walls crumbled so there was dust everywhere. Breakfast is included, but it means they put some prefabricated bread and butter at a table for you to grab. All in all, I was very...
Read moreMy friends and I stayed here for a little over a week while we were in Santa Marta as it was a great place to use as a base while visiting other places in the area. We enjoyed how big and airy the dorm room was, with modern, clean bathrooms. The kitchen was also a good size and not over crowded with food from guests. The vibe is pretty mellow, but we didn't mind because we were tired most days after adventuring anyway. The staff was really great. We were checked in promptly and given sheets and towels right away. The woman during the day at the front desk helped me with finding a clinic to get my yellow fever vaccine, and called and asked the opening hours, cost etc for me. The guy who works there was quick to help when I dropped my phone & had the screen crack. He offered to take me the next morning to the phone repair guys & get it fixed. They also had no provlems with us leaving all of our stuff there for days at a time while we went to Minca & did the...
Read moreWe stayed in a private room here for 4 days. If you are asthmatic or prone to chest infections, do not stay in a private. ||Pros: |very nice air conditioned room|Spacious and a nice bathroom|Nice common area and reasonable kitchen||Cons:|The walls are literally crumbling down on a continuous basis. There are pieces of broken wall all around the edges of the room and in any bags you left near the walls. This means that no matter how much you sweep the room clean you will always be walking on the dust from the fallen walls. This also means that you will be inhaling this dust, that I can only hope does not have asbestos in it, during your stay and may, as I did, get sick as a result. |The water pressure in the taps and shower is also little more than a drizzle and frequently there is no water at all.|"Free breakfast" was bread and bananas.||Staff were very nice but useless when we asked about...
