Ciudad Perdida Wiwa travel — Local services in Santa Marta

I recently booked the 4 day lost city hike with WIWA travel. To be clear I 100% recommend the hike but maybe with a different company.

WIWA is probably a good Provider if all goes well. In my case it did not. The „filtered“ water provided was the probable cause of bad diarrhea after that I had to buy all of my water myself. The Guide Raffa was not really interested. The really kind translater was rotating to try to get some food for me which was more stomach friendly which proofed difficult. It felt like this is the first time they are dealing with a case of bad stomach.

The guide did not even say good bye at the end we were rushed back to the office in Santa Marta which was closed our luggage was waiting outside on the street.

Wiwa is the absolute best. The guides + chef (Angel, Manuelito, & Yonier) made our trip incredible. If you’re going to do the Lost City trek it only makes sense to enter these Indigenous lands with Indigenous guides. You will have an incredibly authentic and spiritual experience that changes you and provides memories you’ll never forget. We felt fully supported with delicious food and guides who gave us a deep and fascinating analysis of the history of the indigenous people, their culture & rituals, and the story of the Lost City. Throughout the trek we could see a huge difference between our group and the others. Other tour guides were blasting music (detracts from the sights and sounds of the trail). If you’re going to do the lost city tour I definitely recommend doing it with Wiwa. This is a tough trek in the jungle and we felt incredibly well cared for the entire time. Having an indigenous guide offered a much deeper experience. After all you are entering indigenous land and culture to see an indigenous site. By not going with an indigenous guide you are forfeiting so much knowledge and understanding.
