I had a very good experience here. The three guys who manage it are fantastic! Two of the guys are from Greece and one is from Spain. I stayed here for 4 nights and could have stayed longer if my flight home was not the next day. What did I like about it? -The atmosphere at this hostel was fantastic for meeting people, eating together and having a few drinks together. They managers cook fantastic Greek food every night that you can opt-in for for 4500 callones. The food was sooooo good and the portions were big. If you want to cook your own food, there is a supermercado about a 5 minute walk away and the kitchen is well equipped and kept clean. They also have laundry service here, tons of hammocks and tables to chill at. There is even a spot for people to smoke, away from the kitchen and hammocks. They clean the bathrooms several times per day. They also have a water cooler where you can pay 300 callones per 0.5L to help use less plastic bottles! The staff is always friendly and do their best to help out with any questions you have. The rooms were clean and well maintained. They also have bikes in great condition that you can rent for the day to go to the beach! But overall, the vibe of this hostel and the people I met here made my stay really memorable. There are always new and fantastic people coming each day, so you always have someone to chat with and have a drink with. Perfect hostel vibe. It is also not far from places you can get surfing lessons, bars/ a nightclub, and the bus stop is only about a 10...
Read moreThis is a nice, simple hostel in Puerto Viejo. The owner was very nice and remembered my name! He provided us with fresh towels upon request and helped us to arrange transportation for the next stage of our trip. The hostel is a collection of separate buildings all next to each other, all on one property down a side street. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the central beach area and bus stop, so just be prepared for that. The property also contains an open-air living space, which is very convivial, with hammocks and a shared kitchen. Imagine a very chill environment, which resonates with the rest of Puerto Viejo. Many of the other guests were smoking, including one of the employees at the hostel, which I did not like personally, however it is just part of the vibe there. There is no air conditioning and the bathrooms are shared, which should be no problem if you are used to hostels. The room was simple, and all that we needed. Everything was kept clean and sanitary, and I am happy with our experience at...
Read moreThe hostels looks pretty cool..but! The manager Jan does not speck very good English and there was a misunderstanding. Make sure you make yourself understand and that he really understands. We were a group of 7 people and we when arrived he did not have clear if there was space for all of us or how was he going to arrange us. Unfortunateley, I do not say this happens all the time, at least two rooms we stayed at really stinked. This is due to the other poeple sleeping, but it actually was sitinking. Stuff all over the place, shoes and wet towels inside.... Jan, did accept to reimburse one night of the two I paid. But of course got angry and made not very cool noce and friendly commments. Basically if everything is ok he will be super cool , helpfull and nice, but if there is any problem, specially regarding money, he will immediatelly change to a not so coll attitude. Just to let you know! Otherwise the hostel is a cool place to go if you are solo travelling. Not that...
