The Grand Villa Argentina is a fantastic 5 star luxury hotel to spend your time at whilst in Dubrovnik.
We have just completed a weeks stay at this hotel and from the moment of arrival to us departing it has been an all round first class experience.
Located on the Southern side of Dubrovnik Old Town, a 25 minute car journey from the airport and a short 10 minute stroll in to the Old Town itself. The location of The Grand Villa is perfect, set in a very peaceful part of town and sited on a beautiful cliff side over looking the Adriatic Sea and the island of Lockrum.
The hotel oozes class and sophistication but most importantly, it is not stuffy and overly formal. Set in extensive grounds that must be explored otherwise you will definitely miss out on some hidden gems the hotel has to offer. Beautiful gardens with plenty of hidden sitting areas are waiting to be found.
The Grand Villa also boasts its own private bathing deck which is located at sea level. Excellent and ample sunbathing areas are available in this area carved out and set within the rocky cliff face. A perfectly sized salt water pool is also available on the bathing deck with its water naturally exchanged by the sea.
The rooms and public areas are great and very well maintained. A wide range of bars, restaurants and quiet areas are also available. This is a hotel you can spend plenty of time at experiencing the many different things it has to offer.
All of the staff we dealt with were excellent, without fault and very fitting to a hotel of this class.
One of the hidden gems you need to find is the Victoria bar. This bar is located below the Victoria restaurant but unless you go and look for it, you won’t find it. This bar is excellent, sophisticated and within a beautiful setting overlooking the sea and Dubrovnik Old Town. Go and spend time here on an evening and watch the most fantastic sun sets and the Old Town light up. One of the other reasons this bar is important to visit is to see Ivan, the chap who runs this bar. Ivan deserves a special mention due to the many times he served and looked after us each time we visited. It is very true that people make an experience and Ivan does just that.
It is impossible to cover everything about this amazing hotel but hopefully the above and photos provided offer a good feel for what it is all about.
Rumour is that the Hotel is due to undergo a 12 month renovation and therefore, closed all next year. Given how impressive this place already is, we cannot wait to visit again probably during 2024 to see how you can improve on something already so good.
All in all….. The Grand Villa Argentina is superb. If you want a first class holiday in Dubrovnik then do not hesitate to book and stay here as you will not...
Read moreWe stayed a week in a deluxe room, in the newer part of the hotel with a balcony and sea view. The room was spacious and in the main well equipped, the bathroom similar and clean but just a little tired, some discoloured and cracked sealant around the shower screen.|The bed was large and comfy and daily room servicing excellent. |Our room had spectactular views over the Adriatic towards Lokrum Island and Dubrovnik to the side, great sunsets. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice and helpful staff if we wanted anything made particularly, we had omelletes to order a couple of times. I have celiac disease so I eat a gluten free diet and was pleased to find a dedicated gluten free table with various cereals, a fresh loaf of bread, sweet breads and cakes. All gluten free and well stocked every day. Added to the already gluten free options it provided a wide choice.|The outside pool area and access to swim in the sea (its deep mind) is very good. Really helpful staff and always a couple of free sunbeds. There is an excellent terrace restaurant, great for lunch, that also provides a poolside service. The gardens are a surprise and worth exploring, they stretch across the neighbouring hotels with lots of quiet spots to relax.|Overall I really liked this hotel, I can see why some feel it may not be true 5 star but it has charm, the staff in my experience were excellent and the gripes are small ones. |So to the gripes, there was no coffee or tea making facility in our room, there was a door stop positioned behind the bathroom door but directly in front of the toilet so you needed to be constantly aware of it or put a towel over it to protect your toes particularly in the middle of the night. The service in the piano bar in the evenings was at times painfully slow and out of keeping with the breakfast team.|I would definitely stay again if I could and would recommend the Grand...
