The beach is free for everyone.
Rental options: • Lounge chair: €25 • Umbrella: €10 (includes a small beach table) Choose a spot if come early and a man comes around 9 AM to collect payment — cash or card accepted.
Option #2: Near the massage cabana, there’s a pile of umbrellas on the sand by the wall. These are also €10 each and available on a first come, first served basis. A younger guy usually comes by around 11 AM to collect payment (cash or card). Umbrella poles are already set up across the beach — just grab one and set it up yourself. They’re usually all taken by 9–10 AM, so come early. You can use them until 5 PM, when the guy leaves.
We usually took an umbrella in the morning and used it all day. We left our towels on the stoned under the umbrella while going away for lunch and had no problems, but do keep an eye out — someone might try to take your spot or use your paid shade.
I’d say, bring water shoes - it’s a smart move. But it’s doable without them. Beautiful beach, gets crowded...
Read moreThe beach and the sea are very clean on this particular beach. The view to the old town is nice and goes well with the tour boats coming in and out of the old harbor. This traffic and the sea streams are causing some waves, but rather comfortable than wild. The entrance to the sea is very clean and not steep. Also, it is cleaned from sea urchins. Sunbeds and parasols are available for rental, but there is also shadow, if you prefer that. There are no big rocks in the sea or the beach, so that is very comfortable, especially for children. Of course, the beach is admission-free, but beware of the extremely bad parking situation in the old town. (There are basically three places where to park: In the public car park on Zagrebačka Ulica and the little open parking next to Pile Gate each cost 40kn/h, the one on Ulica iza Grada costs "only" 20kn/h, but is almost always full.) Of couse, this beach comes with...
Read moreLower than average public beach. It looks pretty broad on photos, but in reality it's not. Bear in mind that some of the photos and reviews left here are actually for the Beach Club with paid entrance, not for free public beach! Getting there after wandering around the Old Town, we found there was no room to swing a cat. Everybody was literally almost stepping on each other. We had to land next to garbage bin to have at least few centimetres of privacy. Entrance is free, but that's it. No free shades, no toilet. There are showers belonging to a near Beach Club which can be used at a price of 2 kunas per minute of water. Oh, and 4 changing booths from the same Beach Club which everybody use for free. Don't forget that it's pebble coastline, and guess what? No sunbeds for rent! What's good about it is proximity to the Old Town which give amazing view. And a variety of water activities. Still not really...
