Kusalo Guesthouse, Dubrovnik — Hotel in Dubrovnik

I would not recommend this location. It is more of a hostel than a hotel. The rooms are small and ok - nothing great. They do have kitchen amenities. There is no maid service. The rooms center around a small pool. The rooms are part of a larger house where the owner lives albeit I never met the owner and was given the key by the maid. There is little privacy. You cannot shower in your room without everyone knowing. There are allegedly rules of conduct like quiet hours but these are not enforced. The owner seems to rent out single rooms to large groups of people who can take over the place. If you are solo traveller looking for peace and quiet like an afternoon nap at 6pm do not necessarily expect it. Moreover, if the group is a late night party group it is likely you will be woken depending on their maturity and courtesy. This is particularly important if you plan on getting up early. I would not recommend this place to the older solo traveller looking for tranquility. It seems the ownership is not concerned about what type of clientele they are trying to cultivate. It has more of a hostel feeling than an apartment feeling. The only reason I am here is because my travel agent booked me here and pre-payed. I would have left if I could. I spent three nights...

When we arrived to the guesthouse they were badly prepared. We had booked a 2 beds room with shared bedroom but got a three bed with your own bathroom. They said ”special for you” but it was so dirty and gross so I felt sick just being in the room. They said we was gonna change room the day after.||In the first room all the walls were broken and there was crumbles on the table were the kittle was. The minifridge was dirty and there was mold in it and it smelled so bad!!||The second room was better but not good. Atleast it was clean. But there was no room to put away your suitcase and you werent aloud to have swimsuits to dry in the room and outside there were nowhere to hang them either. ||The shared bathroom you shared with the family who owns the place it was also dirty but not as bad as the first one. ||Even the glasses and pans and mugs was dirty in the shared kitchen||The midaged couple who worked there was really nice. They helped us with directions on the map and brewed croatia coffee every morning. ||If the place would have been clean it would have been a better stay for us. ||And I would NOT recomend...

My boyfriend and I arrived late this afternoon and only stayed approximately two hours until we could find other accommodation. For starters we couldn’t find the place and when we called the hosts to ask for help they speak little English so could not help us find them, they just told us to park in the post office,this is a small thing which happens in many places so can be overlooked but just be aware. When we eventually arrived we found ourselves inside a very cluttered house. The room had no air conditioning, just a fan, it was very dusty, and the cupboards contained the owners belongings. Our request to change rooms was declined.We spoke to another guest to find out their thoughts about the place and they too were disappointed to find out what they had booked was not what they were given.
