Guesthouse Zaninović — Hotel in Grad Split

We booked this room considering the photos and reviews of other guests, everything was good until Tomislav's mother showed up to let us into the room, that's where everything went wrong. We passed the house that was on the main street and went deeper through the "garden", finally lady opened the door and let us in, she said not to use the AC (it was 32 outside) because it doesn't work "properly", showed us the apartment and left. At this point I asked myself: "Was this a room that we really booked?", I opened my reservation on the airbnb, and compared the photos, the room looked NOT EVEN CLOSE to what we booked, WE WERE SHOCKED, I immediately called the Tomislav in order to understand what is really going on, was it just a mistake and we were given wrong room, but that's was my hope, he said that we were upgraded to the better unit, since there was a kitchen (we booked a room without a kitchen), I said that this room looks 100 times worse then the one that we booked (it was just an very old smelly room, with cheapest furniture possible, with dirty bathroom, broken chairs and broken AC). Few minutes later his mother showed up again, and said that they have better rooms available, we were hoping that there's smallest chance that we will get the room that we booked, BUT NOT, other rooms were pretty close to the 1st room: SMELLY, NO AC, OLD FURNITURE, we refused to stay there. At this point his mom said that everyone likes it, except for us, and she said that we probably are a "special people" and left. Tomislav called me again and I said that i'm gonna call airbnb in order to sort this out, after hearing that, he just FLIPPED OUT AND GOT VERY ANGRY, he started yelling on me, saying that we were offered much better place to stay then we booked. At this point we did not even feel safe to stay there after such treatment. This story has the happy end tho, we were offered a refund by airbnb and we were able to get a nice apartment for the same price.

Booked this based on photos that make the rooms look like a 5 star hotel and the rooms being "reassuringly expensive". We had booked a studio and a studio with patio for a total of 2170 euros for 5 nights so was expecting something special. We could not believe our eyes when we arrived and were shown the rooms. The outside is run down and very untidy, the garden unkempt and the rooms looked very different to the photos on the well known website we booked it through. We did not get chance to check if anything was working as we refused to stay there even though we were told we would still have to pay. I can say that there were wires hanging out of walls that I think were for the internet so presumably not dangerous. other fittings in the rooms look worn and dirty. We were told the reason for the high price was because the music festival "Ultra" was in town in a few days, however this does not justify 400 euros+ a night in a place of this poor quality. To be honest I would not stay there at any price as I like to enjoy my holiday!! After the owner agreeing with the booking company not to charge he after throwing us off his property and giving me " 2 seconds to leave", he waited 3 week and then charge my credit card for over £1800. DON'T let this guy have you...

The stay was okay for my standards. I ve been staying a dozen of apartments throughout and this is not too bad, just need slight upgrading. Maybe we ve got a better room. But I defo would not say it is a luxury apartment. It is an okay apartment, at a super strategic location. The cooking utilities is quite limited so we avoided cooking. We got the cabin in the garden studio. A lot of comments mentioned about unkempt garden , but it was fine when we arrived. Ana was actually quite friendly and not as intimidating as it sounds in the review. She was actually removing grass in the garden. It is defo not the most aesthetic one but it has a big lime tree which I kind of appreciate, and an olive garden at the back with an outdoor patio which is quite nice but we dont had the chance to use it as we are always outside in town. There is hanging spaces in the back patio where you can hang your swimsuits. I dont think the furnitures are old. The wifi is not working though. The bathroom was okay and not mouldy. Ana only told us to turn off the AC when not in use and we are not limited in terms...
