During our recent visit to the Maritime Museum in Split, we were fortunate enough to experience unparalleled hospitality, thanks to the exceptional kindness of Petra. Petra graciously took the time to show our group of teachers around the museum, enhancing our visit with her expertise and passion for maritime history. Petra's dedication and warmth truly exemplify the welcoming spirit of the Maritime Museum. Her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure our visit was memorable is commendable and greatly appreciated. We were thoroughly impressed by the museum's extensive collection, which offers a fascinating glimpse into Croatia's rich maritime heritage. The exhibits were thoughtfully curated and provided valuable insights into the region's seafaring traditions. We are always seeking opportunities for collaboration and furthering educational initiatives. We eagerly anticipate the possibility of future collaborations with the Maritime Museum, building upon the foundation of excellence that Petra exemplifies.

Read moreWonderful museum which I had almost to myself. One of the staff "Petra" spent a lot of time with me explaining some of the historical events that shaped modern Croatia, her time, knowledge and passion was very much appreciated. The museum covers many aspects of Maritime history with scale models of ships, paintings, engines/motors and many items related to seafaring traditional. Coming from England I was particularly interested in the room dedicated to the development of the first self-propelled torpedo perfected by the British engineer "Robert Whitehead" working in Rijeka. A small outdoor exhibition includes examples of traditional boat building, you also get good views across Split from the Fortress walls. Finally the self-operated VR show is not to be missed. An instruction manual is provided. A bit tricky to get going but once you've got the hang of it, well worth it. With the Stuka, submerged aircraft you really feel your underwater exploring the wreck and moving in three dimensions. For everything you get with this free VR show and exhibitions this museum is excellent value for money, and even a discount...
Read moreThe Croatian Maritime Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Croatia’s rich seafaring history. Despite the somewhat challenging entrance, the experience inside was absolutely worth it. The museum is well-organized and showcases impressive collections of ship models, navigational instruments, and maritime artifacts.
A big plus was the air conditioning, which made the visit comfortable even on a hot day. The highlight for me was the virtual reality exhibit with VR goggles — a truly immersive experience that brought maritime adventures to life in a way no traditional display could.
This place deserves much more advertising to make sure everyone knows how awesome it is. Definitely a solid 5-star visit that combines history with modern technology in an unexpected and...
