This could potentially be a 5 star review but strangely, could also be a 3 star review. It's a mixed bag of nuts, lots to like but let down by a few silly things.
-The room-
There is a lot good things to the room, including:
We got a proper double mattress not two singles pushed together, massive points for this. A Kettle is supplied with coffees and tea in a drawer with wine glasses (bonus points for the wine bottle opener). Air con works well.
Unfortunately there was a couple of negatives about the room. The first and most annoying issue is the fridge, you are not allowed to store anything in the fridge as it's used as a minibar. So begins the daily fridge swap once the cleaners have been. Out goes the minibar contents, in goes your drinks. I can't see any reason for a minibar, could people not just order drinks from room service? Then the fridge could be used for guests to store their own stuff, a bit like every other hotel in the world. There was a really annoying knocking sound, it was perhaps coming from a faulty bit of equipment outside the room, it sounded like listened to a washing machine in a room next door. The sound was constant and never stopped, although faint, it was very annoying at night when sleeping. I assume if we had complained they would of moved us, so I can't complain to much about it. Another issue with sound was the road noise, very, very loud at times with cars racing at night with loud exhausts.
-The Hotel-
The staff were very friendly, especially 'Andy' and an Australian lady (sorry I didn't get your name).
We stayed bed and breakfast, the breakfast was the same as at every all inclusive. It was ok, nothing special. Disappointed to see no baklava. Drink prices were fairly expensive but not terrible apart from the 20 euro cocktail in a pineapple, although it did look pretty cool.
The main negative about the hotel is the cats, they are everywhere. Not helped I suspect by the cat home near the hotel and the food left out near the hotel too. Also not helped by the guests feeding the cats and petting them. Now I guess to some this may be a positive, as it's a little like being in a 'cat cafe', I guess it's more a 'cat hotel'. So great for a cat lover. Anyone that prefers hygiene, you lucked out. Due to the cats there is an occasional whiff of cat poop.
Absolutely nothing for children, no slides, no activities. We knew this before coming and wernt bothered but it's worth being aware of.
-The swim-
Two pools, one was deep which was nice. Beach access straight from the hotel. Sunbeds no extra cost, and they were good sunbeds. The sea is beautiful with soft sand and no pebbles. The only negative here is that the sea is empty, no fish that I could see when snorkeling. Sea activities next beach over.
-Restaurants-
Most restaurants nearby are completely empty, not sure if it was because it was not peak season. There was only really one that was worth visiting and that was 'Kofini Tavern'. We went there 3 times, great food and service. There is a coffee shop called 'coffee island', great prices and coffee.
You can get a bus to Limassol, the number 30 bus stops at a stop just outside the hotel. It was 2 euros for a single trip. The bus only takes cash but does give change.
-Finally-
It was my partners birthday while on holiday and we made them aware. On her birthday, a cake and a bottle of champagne was left in the room. I very much appreciated that, thanks, big...
Read moreThis is a 4 star hotel, but honestly we got the lowest price room and it shows a little closer to 3 star, but still very nice. And great for the value. The shower head is cracked so it spayed weird, the curtain of stained pink in spots, the trim paint is on the wall in a few spots, and the traffic noise is extremely loud. The towels are amazingly soft. The staff could be nicer they aren’t terrible but aren’t great. I realised it’s the culture so I’m just extra patient and ask clearly a few times what I want. when I ask questions they seem bothered or confused but eventually help! The room is clean and the air conditioning and mini bar works really well. The pool is clean and the beach is nice. Food is good. Breakfast is great but the other meals are just standard. The parking is free and there is an awesome beach pavement path that leads 2 miles either direction. They also rent bikes for €10/day.
It’s the small things like waiting 15 min for a fork, waiting 30 min for tea that never comes, getting set at a dirty table and no one coming to clean it, waiting 10 min at the spa for instructions on where to go because they gave no explanation and would have had us sit there missing our sauna time.
Also every single other guest got a welcome drink at check in… but we didn’t!! I just kept seeing them through out the stay taunting me.
If you are travelling alone don’t walk outside alone after sunset. I had an incident where a man approached me on their beach after sunset he then followed me as I moved chairs to be away from him but 5 min later eventually I just left the beach and he chased after me. I asked him to leave me alone please don’t follow me are you a guest here etc. He said no Then I said please leave he wouldn’t and followed me for 12 min until i got a waiter, told him about this guy and the waiter made him leave but then just left me there in tears. I told the front desk to be on the lookout and they just said thanks for letting us know but it’s a public area.
20 min later I then saw that same guy in the hotel dining area walkway and it made me not want to go outside. I told them he’s back they didn’t understand the severity of the situation. When I cried They offered to call the police but I didn’t feel comfortable having my name on a foreign police report and didn’t understand the process. I would have just wanted them to have a safety process in place and not put all the pressure on me while I was clearly distraught. I asked for a higher floor room to feel safe ( we were ground floor) but they didn’t have any king rooms unless I wanted to pay for an upgraded view with king. So we stayed at ground level since we didn’t want to pay for the seaview room.
Edit: The last day they moved us to a seaview room. It was very late we only had it for 12 hours but it was nicer.
However the aircon was not as good as it was in the other room. If you get a room with poor aircon it might be worth switching as 331 had the coldest aircon ever but the upgrade room barely worked.
I understand I didn’t pay for luxury so I don’t get that room class so this review is for the cheapest room and the staff in general. The luxury seaview...
Read moreWe stayed at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel in Limassol for 10 nights in what we hoped would be a relaxing stay. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected, and we left feeling deeply disappointed.||The most distressing issue happened on day one: my son’s phone was stolen by the table tennis area. To the hotel’s credit, it was recovered the same day. The security team helped locate it, and I accompanied them to retrieve it — it had been taken by someone outside the hotel. The hotel covered all costs, including paying the thief to buy the phone back, as well as the taxi to get there. While I appreciate their swift action and willingness to take responsibility, this situation highlighted a much bigger issue: poor security. At the time, there were only two security staff on duty, and it was alarmingly easy for non-guests to walk in from the beach which they did. The general manager Mr Klitos arranged for 2 evenings of complimentary dinners which again were appreciated for the inconvenience caused. ||After the incident, we were told that an external security company would be brought in, likely due to the arrival of a large group from Paris. However, the atmosphere quickly became chaotic. The pool became severely overcrowded, and finding a sunbed by the pool was nearly impossible. Children were running freely throughout the hotel with little to no supervision. Breakfast was relocated to another part of the hotel because our original wing had been turned into a kosher kitchen and dining area.||Noise and disruption were constant, day and night. We had issues with noisy neighbouring rooms, though the hotel did eventually move us to a quieter, slightly larger room, which was a noticeable improvement. That effort was appreciated.||Breakfast, unfortunately, was very underwhelming. On the first day, I waited over 40 minutes for a simple cup of coffee, and the overall food offering was very average. After that, we skipped breakfast altogether on some days.||The final straw came when a group of young Israeli men were openly smoking marijuana by the pool in broad daylight. Security did approach them and asked them to stop — twice — but they ignored the warnings. I spoke to the pool bar manger Mr Simos who became very angry with me for mentioning it and said ‘what do you want me to do? Hit the guests? This was hugely insulting. I reported this to the duty manager. When I raised the issue with the front desk, I was told the general manager would have them removed from the hotel the next day. That didn’t happen. They remained at the hotel for at least three more days and continued to smoke near the beach bar, in the lounge and on their balcony.||For £3,000, I expected a high standard of service, safety, and relaxation. While some members of staff were very helpful (Maria - spa and Nicos - security) and did try to resolve issues where they could, the overall experience was disappointing, unsettling, and not at all what we were hoping for.||Would I return? No. Would I recommend it?...
