Hotel Helga — Hotel in Cheb District

This old hotel need reconstruction and maintenance. From outside it looks as average building what you could see around the city, on closer look is there ||plaster falling off on the walls. The hotel has only 2 or 3 parking lots for 46 beds/14 rooms (so first big disadvantage). Inside hotel is cold and dark. There is reception, but in the day you could not find a person with you can communicate. Pleasant lady who owns the hotel is on phone, but it´s weird to communicate like this. I felt smell inside of elevator and on hall. Rooms are decorated in a pseudo-secession style with purple everything (really kitsch). Beds was old, but clean. Our room for 3 people was small, but with decent balcony. Interesting on this room was a history, because in our room should have a sleep general Patton during a liberate of Marianske lazne. Breakfast (except fruits) and location of hotel was a big pro for us. I can recommend this hotel for somebody who want to sleep near the center and want something more rustic and be back in 90´s. I've stayed in youth hostels cleaner than this place. We arrived late and really appreciated having a place to stay at all. But there was dog vomit on the carpet. Dried up. Disgusting. Got a different room but that wasn't much cleaner. Carpet full of hard bits and dark long hair all over the bathroom floor. Also we got charged twice the regular room price, just didn't know it at the time as we had no internet access. The lady was friendly and we stayed a second night. Mistake. We feel she was dishonest about the version of the pricelist she showed us and kept coming up with more charges as parking fee and late arrival fee never mentioned until final payment. Dried up dog vomit on the carpet of the suite in which General Patten had once stayed. Absolutely disgusting. Vacuum cleaner anyone? Got a smaller room for our family but she added so many charges as parking and late arrival but didn't tell us about that one until the very end so we ended up paying just as much anyway. Could have lived with the high price if accommodation had been adequate but the carpet was filthy, full of hard bits to walk on, dirty tablecloth, dark long hair all over the bathroom floor.
