As a business trip, the hotel was booked by our collaborator in Brno and I shouldn't be complaining much because I didn't have to pay for accommodation -- if I had prior knowledge that this would be where I'd be staying, I would've booked elsewhere myself. In previous trips to Czech, I came to acquired impression that the locals are generally shy or mellow. But the staff at front desk of this hotel greeted me with a face that could've been described as wearisome and unwelcoming. I grew even more uncomfortable when the staff then asked to have my passport (in an irritated, demanding tone) -- which I gave because I assumed they would be simply jotting down ID information, but instead they kept it away in the counter. I did ask to have my passport back but was told that it is Czech law to keep the guests passports in the reception. I was then asked to sign some kind of legal document (a paper) which is said to verify my stay. The whole experience was confusing because of all the other countries and hotels I've been to (including the ones in Czech), this was the first time ever have I had to "surrender" my passport to a non-government official...... simply uncomfortable.||||Aside from the incident, the single room was decent if you treat this hotel as more of a hostel (or rather, some kind of budget college student dormitory) than an actual hotel. The bathroom was amusingly compact even for a person my size (151 cm, average build) but bearable. Breakfast was basic with limited selection in the building's basement which the temperature is cool and enjoyable (as long as you don't make eye contact with the staffs or simply try to ignore their tired/irritated/unhappy faces).||||The only up-side to this hotel is its location to the town, which most places can be accessed to by walking or by bus. I'd love to visit Brno again but will try to seek out other accommodation options if given the...
Read moreI stayed there because I had to, otherwise, I would never recommend. First, it feels and seems very creepy with a little light, religious sculptures around and super old building equipped with antique furniture. Second, it smells weird and I found out the reason, it is dirty!! Your room is not cleaned, they only empty the trash bin. That's all. When you look around, it might seem clean but underlyingly it is not! The lady in the breakfast/kitchen part cleans the tables very carelessly to just make it look clean. It is like cleaning oil with a tissue.. when you look at it, it might look clean but if you touch it, you understand how dirty it is. Also, there are no one time use slippers in the rooms, so don't forget to bring a pair of them. Besides, the doors of the rooms are not safe at all! I understand that it must be quite expsnsive to change the doors with the chip card ones but at least make it more secure. I was thankful to be in a safe country, otherwise I cannot imagine. Comparing to the hotels in Türkiye, I have no words to tell here. I bet the owners of this hotel visit the hotels in Türkiye.. If you haven't done so yet, please do so and see a real hotel service. (This is not speficially about Türkiye but this is my first hotel experince outside Türkiye). The two good things were; the people working in the reception were so helpful and friendly!! and the location is good. During my 6 days of stay, I have never ever used a public...
Read moreThe price was my guide, I wanted my own room with en suite in striking distance to the local swimming pool where I was watching an event. ||So from maps via booking.com this ticked the boxes. ||Arrival - the hotel is situated just off the city centre 500m the area itself is run down but many places are being cleaned up. ||Reception was efficient if not too informative. It’s smells like a Chinese takeaway but the space is shared with an entrance to a Thai restaurant on site - didn’t try it. ||The lift is unusual two people max with a carpet on the floor and walls? ||Room- My room had two single beds, a couch bed a tv ( one English Channel I’ve never heard of) and a large functioning bathroom. The floor was a bit uneven and the furniture worn. ||Breakfast was a challenge but when in Rome as they say so made do with juice, bread rolls with either ham cheese and or marmalade not a fan of the continental sausages, and all you can eat or drink so was adequate. ||In summary for £31/ night 10 mins from the city centre I had a clean functional b&b at a third of the price of a hotel for the same outcome, clean bed, clean towels, en suite and my room was very quiet. ||Yes it’s not somewhere I would holiday but for 3 nights on a budget it is what it is a cheap bnb that you only use to sleep shower leave repeat. ||Won’t appeal to the majority but like others have said you should know at £31 it’s not...
