We went there with two locals and I doubt we would have found the place without them. It's quite tucked away at the corner and doesn't look like much from the outside. The atmosphere is, at least I suppose, meant to be "western style", lots of wood, cow-skinned benches (fake of course) and other memorabilia. It's cozy if you accept it as it is. The menu comes in the shape of a book and it might have helped if the had put in an index :) it took the newcomers quite a while to decide what to order due to the sheer amount of dishes to chose from. Since this is the unofficial spot for the "best steak in town" it was obvious to get one of those - all 5 of us order meat, beef, pork and chicken. It arrived fairly fast - the meat in the center of the plate and not much fuss around it. French fries and other side dishes came on separate plates. It looked really perfect. My cut of sirloin was cooked as ordered medium-rare, just like all others. They know how to cook a steak! The meat was tender and A grade quality, melting on my tongue. Well, for the rest - the the staff was friendly and smiled at my stupid attempts to speak Czech which makes him a nice guy :) Price value relation is top notch, especially if you compare it to standards in other countries to the west. Highly...
Read moreThe restaurant is located on the ground floor of a building, which unfortunately means that it does not receive much natural light. As a result, the interior of the restaurant is somewhat dim. However, the staff is friendly and accommodating, making for a pleasant dining experience.
The menu at this restaurant is quite extensive, with both Czech and English options available. The standout dishes are definitely the steaks, which are juicy and flavorful. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations for complementary side dishes to accompany your meal. Additionally, the daily soup, which on this occasion was a pea soup, was incredibly flavorful and not too heavy on the cream. While some of the other dishes, such as the carpaccio, were decent but not particularly memorable, the overall quality of the food is quite high. The prices are a bit on the high side, but considering the quality of the steaks, it's worth it.
Last but not least, the menu is so big that you are totally confused about what to order and is not very sustainable. All of the people agreed on...
Read moreI have had an unpleasant experience from a place I used to recommend on a regular basis.
I was heading out with my companion, and during the dinner we've had here there were several incidents that force me to assign this 1 star rating: The waitress did not speak English at all (I don't expect fluency in Czech Republic, but if you work in a decent restaurant, some basics would be required) The vegetables brought as a side dish were oversalted to an extent that we could not continue eating after 1/4 of the dinner Upon complaining about the salty vegetables, the waitress returned and told us "the chef says the vegetables are fine" until I've insisted that they be replaced Waiting for the replacement with our food growing cold was not a nice experience I would expect from such a place
None of the failures in themselves were critical, but having to argue in broken Czech with staff about a side dish that's less than 5% of the total cost of the dinner is ridiculous. It's...
