Gothic Cellar - Permanent Exhibition — Attraction in Prague

Gotický sklep je významnou historickou a technickou památkou z období barokní citadely. V jeho obvodových konstrukcích jsou zachovány fragmenty zdiva středověkých palácových budov, cenné jsou i mladší stavební zásahy z 18. a 19. stol., které dokumentují vývoj provozního zařízení vojenské stavby. Sklep je zrekonstruován pro stálou expozici Historické podoby Vyšehradu z různých historických epoch. Nejstarší exponáty dokládají pobyt a činnost lidí na Vyšehradě už ve 4. a 3. tisíciletí před Kristem. Zajímavý je sarkofág získaný při průzkumu okolí kostela sv. Petra a Pavla, dále předměty spjaté s činností vyšehradské kapituly od 11. do 20. století, insignie připomínající přeměnu samostatného Vyšehradu v součást Prahy, nebo památky na působení některých vyšehradských cechů. K ceněným památkám patří i drobný křížek z 11. století nalezený již na konci 19. století na vyšehradském hřbitově v místech hrobu Bedřicha Smetany či medailon z mastku zhruba z téhož období nalezený pod vyšehradskou skálou. Základní vstupné je pouhých 50 Kč, snížené 30 Kč, rodinné 100 Kč, děti do 6 let mají vstup zdarma.

The Gothic cellar is an important historical and technical monument from the epoch of the Baroque citadel. Fragments of the masonry of the medieval palace buildings are preserved in its peripheral constructions. Younger building interventions from the 18th and 19th centuries, which document the development of the operational equipment of the military building, are also valuable. The cellar is reconstructed for a permanent exhibition of Historical form of Vyšehrad from various historical periods. The oldest exhibits document the activity of people at Vyšehrad already in the 4th and 3rd millennium BC. Interesting is the sarcophagus obtained during the exploration of the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, as well as objects related to the activities of the Vyšehrad Chapter from the 11th to the 20th century, or insignia commemorating the transformation of the independent Vyšehrad into a part of Prague. Valued monuments include a small cross from the 11th century found at the end of the 19th century in the Vyšehrad cemetery near the grave of Bedřich Smetana or medallion made of talcum from about the same period found under the Vyšehrad´s rock. The basic admission is only 50 CZK, reduced 30 CZK, family 100 CZK, children under 6 years of age are admitted...

Simple exposition of archaeological excavations and the history of the Prague Visegrad. Hall is very small and there are not so many items (but it's not expensive either, 50 CZK - about 2 euro). Can be used as small pause to rest if it's rainy or too...

This tiny exhibition does have some interesting information on Vysherad but it is organised in quite a boring way with too much text to read. Since I had the coolpass I did it and it didnt pinch but otherwise I would've regretted it. Quite skippable...
