I strongly don't recommend this hotel. Mainly because it's a health hazard. If you decide to stay here, skip the breakfast and find yourself a nice place to eat somewhere nearby. Don't expect a good swim at the pool as it's usually packed. Details below.
Positives: Shower was great - good temperature, good pressure. That's about it.
Negatives: The parking is a complete mess. There's a big sign "HOTEL GUESTS ONLY" but as far as I am concerned, anyone can use it and I believe that's what happens as it is completely packed all the time. The automatic barrier doesn't care whether you are a hotel guest or not, nor is there a system to check that. The only free spot I could find was on the gravel part of the parking lot with rocks bigger than even the ones you could find around the railroad tracks.
Entering the hotel building from the parking lot, I was welcomed with unwoved fabric and OSB boards on top of carpet. Very cozy. At the reception desk, there were two people. I couldn't tell which one is the receptionist as one of them was wearing black long-sleeved t-shirt and the other one white button-up shirt. Turns out, both of them. No uniform or even a name tag for a guest to tell who is who.
One of them went to one of the computers and waved at me to come to him. Not sure if he was Ukrainian or had a speech impediment but I had to ask him to repeat almost every single sentence to understand what was he trying to say. Not sure how good is he in the other languages but his Czech (in Czech hotel) was terrible. Contrary to my expectations, kettle was nowhere to be found despite it being written in the list of room facilities of Executive room. All I got was L'OR capsule coffee maker I don't care for.
My window was overlooking Bělohorská street meaning a lot of noise even at night. Can't say I slept comfortably. However, my main issue with the room was the mold below the wallpaper around the window and by the bathroom door, where the wall and the ceiling meets. In any hotel, if you see a wallpaper coming off in place where the water is likely to condense (which around the windows and bathroom is), it's very likely mold. And if it's in one room, it's very likely in all the other rooms.
Breakfast is mediocre to bad. The concept of having wider food variety on the weekends only is strange, considering the price for breakfast is the same for all days of the week.
The warm food doesn't have any cover as in any other (even cheaper) hotel. Instead, every sneeze and cough lands right on your eggs. Bon appetit. All the vegetable is old, dry, and tasteless. Might as well not be there. The fruit is from cans only (except melon on the weekend mornings) and was already in state of fermentation. I said as much to the waiter, who was told in the kitchen that it's fresh with some spices added in (cinnamon etc.). Considering I saw a lady bring a big bowl of fruit from the kitchen and dump it on top of whatever was left, I highly doubt it's completely fresh. Sounds to me like the kitchen staff is trying to mask the taste of old fruit with the spices. Besides, I can tell apart a fresh fruit from the canned one. Out of three breakfasts I went to, the first and the second had the same type of fruit available. It was at the second breakfast when I decided to try it and found out it was well past it's Best Before date. Pointed it out to the waiter, who said as much to the kitchen staff and on the third breakfast, there was a new set of fruit (still from the can though). Very suspicious.
The only good thing I can say is about the waiter who offered me to bring something fresh from the kitchen which I politely declined as that shouldn't even be his job but hotel policy. The waiter was great though.
The pool is quite small and don't expect to have a quality practice session as it's usually packed with children. Despite at least 5 "NO JUMPING" signs, it isn't enforced by anyone (as any other rule) so be cautious because kids (and their parents) don't care. What you should expect is irritated sinuses from all...
Read moreSoft check in with a big lack of explanation about times, services and facilites of the hotel. The rooms need to be repaired in many aspects such as walls, doors, head board of the bed, baseboards, lamps and curtains. I'm not saying they are old fashioned or that i don't like the decoration. I'm saying they are broken, with scratches or with holes.
Bad cleaning services in terms that they just clean, then don't replace the bottles for water for the kettle. I had to ask constantly, for 4 days in a row, for these bottles to the reception. It seems that the staff in the front desk doesn't have really clear about if the bottles are or not complimentary.
On the third night, when the bottles were delivered by a tall bald receptionist (jacket and bit of beard) he seemed to have a big lack of manners. He didn't let me end the sentence i was saying to him when i took the bottles he was given to me (at the door of the room), when he just started to leave and replied to me at the same time he was leaving by the corridor, not even looking at me.
Also to mention that there was a leak on the toilet in one of the rooms, i mentioned this in the reception and it took 3 days to be fixed, despite the fact i had to mentioned this in the reception several times. It was curious that some staff in determinate shifts knew the information about this and in another shifts some were totally unaware of this (lack of Handover)
Finally, the breakfast .... Having in mind we are coming all from a pandemic, staff touching the guest's food with their own hands it's a big lack of hygiene: the young girl doing the pancakes, the lady that moved all the apples to just one bowl, placing the bread in the baskets, ... In terms of service, i had to take cutlery twice because the waiters seemed on a rush to clean everything ...
As a resume, the staff seems that they just want to do their jobs in the fastest way in order to go home or just simply do nothing the rest of their shift. Missing lack of interaction with the guest, emotional engagement and missing the feeling that they really like/love what they are doing.
A big applause in costumer service and interaction to Tomas, from Reception, and the indian waiter at Eclypse Restaurant. Tomas really showed an attitude of interest and concern when presented the issue with the toilet. The indian waiter showed sympathy and interact with myself regarding other issues not related with my stay, attempting...
Read moreI had an exceptional stay at the Orea Pyramida Hotel in Prague. Located in a quiet area, a few kilometers from the city center, the hotel is conveniently situated close to a tram station, making it incredibly easy to navigate the city. The hotel itself is modern and well-equipped, featuring comfortable rooms, a pool, a gym, and a restaurant that boasts a magnificent view of the city. The staff were friendly and accommodating, contributing significantly to the enjoyment of my visit.
I spent a week in the 'Classic Suite' which was spacious and airy, furnished with a comfortable bed, two large TVs, and a dedicated workspace. The room also featured efficient air conditioning, perfect for relaxing and recuperating after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel additionally offers a sauna, a pool, and a gym - all of which I took full advantage of. The pool was just the right size and 170 cm deep, ideal for a swim on a hot day. The gym was equipped with a variety of machines that helped me maintain my fitness routine. The sauna was pristine and came with a special plunge pool. At the spa reception, I received two clean, fragrant towels.
The hotel's restaurant served traditional Czech cuisine, and I had some of the best meals I've ever enjoyed in Prague there. The breakfast was delightful, offering a wide range of options. However, I should note that red meats were not labeled to specify whether they were pork, or beef. Over the weekend, the breakfast buffet was busier, but there was also an increased number of staff who were serving, cleaning, and restocking efficiently.
The room cleaning service was impeccable, the housekeepers were professional and quick. When I requested a change of bed linens, they attended to it promptly.
The staff at the Orea Pyramida Hotel was always more than happy to provide me with tips on what to see and do in Prague. They truly made my visit extremely enjoyable. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Orea Pyramida Hotel to anyone seeking quality accommodation in Prague.
I would like to express special gratitude to Michael, who was incredibly helpful and friendly throughout my stay. He assisted me in a professional manner with a booking issue I experienced. I would also like to thank the hotel manager, Roman, for his attention to detail, commitment, and generosity in ensuring that myself and all guests had a wonderful stay.
Thank you again, Orea Pyramida Hotel! I hope to have the opportunity to...
