Pension Filip — Hotel in Prague

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean. Map was honest about how far the hotel is from the centre, and it is, indeed, some distance. This is not an ideal location, but at least made for some pleasant walks through various parks. However:||||1. The room was advertised as a double. This was, most definitely, a twin room. This was most disappointing as we were away as a couple. ||2. There was no kettle in the room. I would expect this (or at least /some/ access to water for tea/coffee from a hotel advertising itself as a 3 star. ||3. The bed was uncomfortable and there were insufficient pillows.||4. No bath.||5. I had ordered a bottle of wine to be placed in the room on our arrival. Unfortunately the hotel's entire wine stock had been drunk the night before. The staff were most apologetic.||||So although the staff were friendly and all was clean, I would not visit this...

I’ve just returned from a 7 day trip to Prague and Vienna, sandwiched by flying in and out of Prague. I didn’t my last night here at Pension Filipe and it was perfect to recover from the demands of endless baroque palaces, gothic churches and all the art and culture of these two great cities. The guesthouse is up above the city, perfect escape from the 25 degree heat that weekend and most of all the boards of tourists that completely blanket Prague centre. I had the best room, large and airy with a big terrace balcony with fantastic views. A 5 minute walk to the Kinsky Gardens and hills and shady walks offering spectacular panoramic views. A nice and cozy pension. Spent 4 nights here. We didnt spend much time at the room though. First 2 days it was freezing in the room, third day it was quite alright and forth day it was superhot. The room where somewhat humid so you had to open a window every night to get the moist down. The beds where quite hard, so every time you had to turn, you woke up. The shower was quite small and with very low preassure from the showernostril, more when you wanted hot water than the cold water. There was a good breakfast served every morning at 8. Coffee a bit dull though. Nice staff but not present at location...
