The setting was magical and the food was a culinary decadence. The service however left much to be desired. He was grumpy and mean and made me want to walk away. I’m glad I stuck it out.
It is in an underground cavern, rendering it cool, comfortable and captivating. I geeked out and took videos and photos. They did a fantastic job with the lighting. I followed the corridors and stood in the restaurant waiting to be seated for a bit, and then went back to find someone by the lobby to see if I was in the correct place. They assured me I should follow the hall. I continued to wait, ignored, not seated by the man on the phone at the bar. After quite a bit (at least 5-7 minutes if not more) I had to ask to be seated (or even acknowledged) and he was totally rude when I said I was all alone. He actually eye rolled me. Like, “how could I waste his time for 1 person.” I ordered the cheese plate and a glass of white wine, then called for my son to join me. He couldn’t miss this. The space was something I really wanted him to experience. At the time, I was all alone in the restaurant. The waiter had no one else to wait on. When my son arrived, I asked for the server to also give him silverware. The server (bald with glasses) was so rude, exasperated and muttering that I needed to be patient. He brought him a knife and fork, but never brought him a napkin. My son ordered the Old Bohemian Rabbit leg and cream with bread dumpling and cranberries. Unfortunately I did have to finally ask for a napkin to be brought for my son. Which of course got some serious grumbling from my mean server and his nasty mutterings to a man at a laptop who nodded in agreeance. The food was UNREAL. The wine, the food, all of it was incredibly delicious. And I really don’t like Czech food. I really don’t like wine too much. But I’ll be savoring these memories for a while. Kudos to the chef! Kudos to the owner who designed the space and hired the chef. But I hope the server gets a shot of happy. He is a grumpy man who spreads an ugly energy in a special place. How could anyone be unhappy here? So sad. Take a breathe. Look around. Pinch yourself. You are blessed. We live in a fortunate time. There is so much more to give thanks and praise for than there is to be unsatisfied about. I hope...
Read moreWe had a family celebration the 23/12/2024 at this restaurant. The place is very nice with a lot of history. Regarding the food, nothing special, it was average. On the other hand, the service was not good. We went to this place at the beginning of the month of December, and we booked a place. When we arrived the 23/12, we were surprised that we didn't get the place that we booked. Then the waitress told us that there will be a lot of people around us, and move us to a different place, which at the end was not true. When we ordered food, the waitress said that the restaurant's kitchen is small as some toilet, and it's better to order same kind of food. Which when you go to restaurant, you can order what is on the menu. At the end when we wanted to paid, We just got an amount put on the credit card desk, that's it., we didn't get any bills. When we asked, we got bill from another customer, and waitress told us that they don't have our bills. As there is a super small waterfall in the restaurant we asked to the waitress, if he can put it to you (basically you just need to press a button). The waitress refuse, as we didn't order it, on the other hand, we were 14 persons to eat with started, main dish, dessert, coffee + drinks..... I don't...
Read moreWhat an amazing place! Food and service was not only amazing, but they went above and beyond by really focusing on the ambiance. Incredibly romantic vibe. There was a violinist and acoustic guitar playing next to the tables while we dined, with candles and soft lighting surrounding us. We made a reservation for 6pm on Saturday night, which is an early dinner (we had to get to a tour in town later that evening) but the restaurant was quite empty, which I attribute to the off-season (mid-February) and the early timing. Regardless, the meat and cheese board was a delicious starter and we ordered the 750gr mixed grilled meat plate for two. It included their pork, boar, and entrecote. It was absolutely delicious, our favorite being the entrecote! We didn't think we'd be able to finish it all, but we did! The house lager was also our favorite of the beers. Quite reasonably priced, especially since we ordered the most expensive meal on the menu and got a starter and drinks as well. I highly recommend dining here and hope to return again if I ever find myself...
