Extremely rude lady at the reception. I had a bicycle with me and I didn't want to leave it outside while checking the room. I asked if I could bring my bicycle inside the entrance door for a moment, but the answer was "no" because the wood will be damaged. I was confused because the floor was not wood (it was tile), and the only wood used was the hand rail. I have rubber ends on my handle bar so it wouldn't make scratches or anything. She kept saying no despite my explanation of why the wood would not be damaged, and offered to "look" at the bike while I go and check the room by myself. She said she will look at the bike through the security camera, but will not do anything if a thief actually tries to steal something, which basically means she is doing nothing. I told her that her offer does not help prevent theft, and that bringing the bicycle inside is a far more effective solution but she ignored. I suggested bringing the bicycle into the lobby where the floor is carpet and nothing will be damaged, but she still said no. This time she could not even explain why this was not allowed. I told her to call the manager but she refused because she didn't want to get into trouble. I told her how crazy and stupid this was and she started screaming and threatened to call the police. Worst hostel, avoid...
Read moreGreat location, right in the heart of the city. Wonderful staff, very pleasant and nice. The hostel is very charming and nicely decorated. However, due to the building/house being old, the wood creaks on every floor when people walk the halls, up and down the stairs, making it very noisy when trying to sleep at night and guests are coming or going. You could even hear people talking sometimes from the reception on the 3rd floor where we were staying (inside the room). If you can see from the pictures the layout of the hostel doesn't help, in fact it makes the noise travel through the middle open area hitting all the rooms on the way up. It was hard to sleep past 6am/7am on any day as well. Creaking wood, steps, chatter and noise woke us early mornings. Also the room we were in didn't have any windows, just a skylight which didn't help when trying to sleep in either. Those were my main two reasons that brought the rating down. Other than that, their services were excellent, breakfast was good, TV and wifi worked well, hot water etc. If you don't mind a bit of noise and are a morning person then I...
Read moreOn Booking.com the name of this place is “Hostal Juana de Arco”. Hostal. Not hotel. I made reservation there only because we really prefer to stay in the hostels, meeting new people and not spending time in the room, but socializing in some way. So this is NOT a hostel, it’s a horrible horrible horrible hotel, in which you can completely forget about your sleep. On the reception there’s only one guy who speak English and they never have change and you have to come back later to take your money. We stayed in a private room with bathroom, room is very small with one window which goes to the corridor, not to the street and you hear everything what’s going on in the corridor (imagine group of German 18 years old guys and girls who arrived at 6 am and are staying at the reception, trying to decide, where to go first 🙄). Breakfast they serve - it’s not a breakfast, just tiny scrambled egg with bread and butter. I give two stars only because of a great location and price, but I’m sure, you can find better place...
