We were really looking forward to the visit, as we had a recommendation for this place from our guide and it was also stated in our travellers guide. However I really don't know what has happened to this place. Did they replace the cook? The evening started well with an excellent Ceviche which my brother and I shared. For our main courses my mum chose a steak, my brother an traditional ecuadorian pork dish and I went for the flambeed prawns. My mum's ordered medium steak arived mainly raw at the table and was tough too. My brother's pork in return received the heat, the steak was deprived of. It had been fried rock hard. The prawns themselves were good, but where drowned in a whisky sauce with so much alcohol left, that I got dizzy from just looking at them. Till now it might have gotten obvious that I cannot recommend a visit here until the "Geranios" found...
Read moreWe arrived from the airport famished and went to this restaurant as it was near our hotel. Our waiter greeted us and let us choose a table outside on their lovely patio. He helped us choose our meals—all Ecuadorian dishes. We enjoyed our beers while we waited along with gratis plate of corn nuts, plantain chips with a hot sauce. Tasty. Then Jesus brought out my Lacro de Papa, still cooking with a small flame burning underneath. He told me to wait to eat until the flame went out, which I did. The dish was beautifully presented, with avocados arranged on one side, and the soup was divine, as was my ceviche mixto with chochlo grain. My husband ordered lamb fritada with spicy sauce, which he enjoyed also. The whole experience was very nice. We didn’t have food that good the rest of our time in Quito, so went back here for lunch our last day. I highly recommend...
Read moreFirst of all, this is not a Mexican Restaurant. They have variety, and some international fare, but no Mexican. This was our dining experience on Calle La Ronda. I picked this restaurant because it was the highest rated by review on both google and TripAdvisor for the La Ronda area. It was a lovely, well decorated setting. There were only two tables occupied because we got there for an early dinner. We ordered the seafood special quinoto - like a risotto but with Quinoa. It had clams, mussels, octopus, and shrimp in a quinoa dish. It was different, but delicious. I ordered a filet in a caper and shrimp garlic sauce with fried potato wedges, and mixed legume salad. My wife ordered scampi in an herb sauce with quinoto and a legume salad. The food was very good. The prices reasonable for the quality. The service was a shade on the slow side by...
