We stayed here for 3 nights when we first arrived in Quito. I always like to consider pros and cons of each place we stay so see below for what I think is a relatively objective view on the place. ||Pros:|- friendly staff|- good location|- clean rooms|- One English speaking manager who was very helpful |- our room was big (after asking to move rooms)|- price wasn’t bad||Cons:|- the first night our room was small. No windows to the outside. The bathroom smelt horrific and clearly they had an issue with the drains. Above the door where a small window to the corridor should have been, the glass was missing|- it was very noisy. All three nights we heard people talking or watching TV late into the night |- the kitchen is tiny and only one person can cook at a time|- no free water (every where else we have stayed has offered free drinking water)|- the showers didn’t always work and the flow would sometimes get cut off mid-shower. The drains smelled bad in both rooms and the smell permeated into the rooms as the bathrooms were not sealed off at the top (no secrets in their bathrooms!)|-the beds were small. I’m not a big person and neither is my wife, and we still felt cramped in their ‘double’ beds||In conclusion, would I stay at Yumbo again? Probably, but just for one night, and mainly because of the friendly staff and...

Read moreFace it, if you're reading this, it's because the room is cheap as hell. This is one of those placed that look ok in photos, but in person you're hit by all your other senses lol
We ended up leaving within the day because of the following:
Room smelled like bleach, extremely strong, nauseating. Could not air it out.
Mouldy walls, ceilings, etc. Probably why there is so much bleach.
Shower is not behind a dedicated wall, which means all the moisture goes into the room, hence the mould.
The rooms upstairs are open to air, so when it's raining hard, the water sprays INTO the room.
The place leaks, you can tell by the numerous water stains. Water literally drips into the main entrance when it rains.
The room looks different then what you see in boooking.com.
The entrance/exit is only opened by staff, who are not always at the desk. The buzzer you use to hail them can be heard through the building.
No heat
Beds are hard as rocks, maybe even Vietnam hardness in comparison.
Such a pity, the staff are super nice, but this place just seems...very un-maintained. Much nicer options for only a few dollars more a night, we booked posada Colonial and loved it.
I'm sure it's great for the budget traveller! Great location and super fast what's...
