I visited as part of the tour of old Quito with a guide, but when inside the museo provided their own guide who was very knowledgeable of the place and various art works inside. The main cloister was very large, surrounded by art works from the old church. Museum is full of works by artists of the Quito School of work, particularly impressive were the polychrome sculptures. The building is still used as an active covent but you can freely walk around and climb on the church roof to admire the cupolas. The bell tower is normally closed to the general public but the entrance guard was so kind as to unlock the door for me....
