Hotel Posada del Angel — Hotel in Cuenca

A super clean, organized, comfortable hotel, in a quiet neighborhood with a short walk to the historic center. The hotel is a beautiful, historic building. You will enjoy architecture of a historic location.

The room has everything, spotless and clean bathroom, soap, shampoo, water glasses, bath, floor and hand towels. Closets, hangers drawers, suitcase holders, hooks for towels, windows for light and a comfortable bed. The temperature in the room pleasant and there are plenty of blankets.

The breakfast was excellent and the staff was exceptional.

The only drawback, which may not be an issue: The breakfast starts at 7:30 and if you want to sleep in, there is some noise from guests talking as the rooms surround the dining area. That is also true for the restaurant that is part of the hotel. Some rooms are also located in part of the restaurants dining area. This could also be a source of noise from restaurants patrons in the evening.

Hostal Posada del Angel provided for a pleasant and comfortable stay during our group’s first time in Cuenca. The Hostal is in a great area within walking distance of many restaurants, a fantastic Belgian brewery and the Cuenca cathedral. The Hostal is run by a friendly couple from Argentina who were very helpful and kind to us. They provided us with local recommendations and even allowed us a late check out. The room we had was clean, very spacious and even featured a small balcony. While we did not dine at the in house restaurant, we noticed it was a very popular spot particularly in the evenings (our local guides even said our Hostal was known for having great food!). The Hostal took all of the necessary COVID-19 precautions with the staff wearing masks and providing guests with hand sanitizer each time...

Hotel is nicely decorated and in a good spot.|Rooms look nice but dividers literally made of plywood so no sleep at all the first night. The second night the room next to us was empty so it wasn’t as bad. Just road noise from early in the morning.|The breakfast was the worst I have ever seen anywhere. Hot water run empty so had to ask several times for hot water. Some fruit that was out was bad and just a few little bits at the bottom of the bone. No cereal. Managed to get a banana and that was it.|Think this has maybe been converted from a youth hostel. Ok for backpackers who are used to something basic. Certainly not suitable for older travellers who expect...
