As a budget traveler to Cuenca, you can still be papered with an economical hotel bill!||||Hostel owners of this beautiful, converted colonial house make sure their guests feel at home from the time they check in!.||||I am somewhat of an expert because I am in the last few days of a month-long stay. ||||When I checked in, owners (Juan and Kathy) and staff went out of their way several times to make sure I was pleased with the room, bath and Internet WiFi facilities. They said that coffee (i.e. exceptional, dark roast Arabica from Loja, Ec. ), fresh fruit juice (i.e. papaya, mango, pineapple, strawberry on different days) would be ready between 7-7:15 and 9 a.m. every morning but that special arrangements could be made for other times. The buffet also includes cereal, delicious yogurt, rolls, toast, local jellys, cheese, ham and eggs cooked to order.||||They asked what time would be most convenient for having the room cleaned, so that my daily work and errand schedule could be accomodated.||||Their wonderful morning and evening staff members asked me every day if everything was O.K. and if there was anything I needed.||||The place is exceptionally clean and sanitary. The rooms are detailed. The light, common area music is relaxing as is the traditional, Ecuadorian furniture. The common areas themselves provide ample private areas to read, work on laptops or converse.||||Hostel Inez Maria is manned 24-7 and secure. Entry is via an intercom button at the DOWNTOWN Grand Colombia entrance and after verifying your identity staff remotely opens the gate for you electronically.||||After my first few days, my monthly rate enabled me to upgrade into the master suite overlooking Grand Colombia, complete with balcony. The king bed was spacious. While the normal room I first occupied was nice and big, had a refrigerator and complete shower and bath facility, I especially enjoyed the suite's jacuzzi-style bath tub.||||For anyone traveling alone as I was, or with family, I heartily recommend the family-owned Inez Maria. You will be staying in a wholesome home-away-from-home in one of the most charming cities in the world, the cobblestoned, welcoming colonial city of Cuenca, Ecuador.||||Your author visits numerous restaurants and hotels but takes time only to comment on the best ones. For delightful, economically priced, outstanding lodging in this world famous Andes mountain town, I think you...
Read moreOur son recently got married in Cuenca and we had our family stay at Hostal Ines Maria for the wedding weekend. Can't say enough about how gracious and accommodating the entire staff was to our guests. The entire hostal was very clean the bathrooms are all updated and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was an assortment of breads, pastry, fresh fruit, and eggs cooked any way you liked them. It was stressful for us to host a wedding so far from home. We had 15 guests at Ines Maria and each one was treated with care and concern. They were exceptionally attentive to my 92 year old mother who was travelling with us, constantly making sure that she was comfortable and warm. I would highly recommend staying there and will return when we visit out...
Read moreI absolutely loved my stay at this beautiful hotel located near the San Sebastian neighborhood. Quaint and charming in a wonderfully restored mansion converted to what is essentially a bed and breakfast. I stayed 6 nights and then another night on my return to Cuenca. Both rooms were clean, comfortable, with quality mattresses, good pillows, plenty of hot water and thick, sumptuous towels. Breakfast was fruit, eggs, roll, cheese, juice, coffee and yoghurt with muesili with variations each day. Maria was amazing and went out of her way to ensure i had a good stay, as did the remaining staff. I have nothing but good things to say about...
