Kali hostal — Hotel in Departamento de La Libertad

We booked a triple room at Kali's Guest House. The room was advertised as having a double bed and a sofa bed and being suitable for 3 adults. The third adult would need to be extremely short statured as our friend's feet well and truly hung off the bed. They didn't give us a key to the room and when we asked about it they said the key had been lost and seemed to think that was sufficient to end the discussion. |The grounds of the hostel looked nice enough. The pool was a definite drawcard and it had trees around providing plenty of shade. There were a few tables and lounge chairs in the garden area and there was also a bar near the pool. Near the rooms there was an undercover dining and lounge area and a kitchen. What we found surprising was that they charged extra for many items you would assume would be included in the room cost, such as drinking water ($3 per person), kitchen use and towels. We also noticed that although they had signs in the room saying that there was no smoking on the premises, their staff allowed smoking in the garden area, which meant that smoke drifted into the other common areas as well.|We decided to look around at other hostels and found a couple near El Sunzul which had much more in terms of facilities, room quality and inclusions for the same price. We tried to cancel our booking, but at that point they offered us an upgraded room and free drinking water. We decided to take them up on their offer and stayed the two nights that we had booked for. Our upgraded room had air conditioning and was quite comfortable. The wifi worked well. The bathroom light wouldn't stay on without jamming a small object like a coin into the switch. The smoking in common areas still wasn't great, but we put up with it. The customer service was a bit lax, with one of the only English speaking staff often sleeping in past checkout time.|Overall, after making complaints our stay turned out to be alright, but if we settled for what they were offering it would have been a pretty...

This morning I made a reservation, the host never replied to my inquiry nor did she approve my booking request.||||I got to the place and was told there were shared rooms available, I walked in and registered myself, the girl even made a receipt with my name, she said I'd be the only one in the room because no one had reserved it.||||At this point since the host had not bottered in replying or accepting my request, I decided to cancel and pay with my credit cars in the place directly but the girl did not know how to charge it.||||When I came back from the sea, I was told the room was booked and was offered a more expensive room.||||The host said she did not look at airbnb reservations at all, that she did not like it because it was more trouble than benefit. ||||I felt angry and decided to leave the place.||||She should be taken off airbnb.||||This is unfair and it was not a good experience at all.||||Rooms have access to lockers, they lack the padlocks, so the lockers are useless, when you ask the staff about the padlocks, they show little interest and blame it on the owner, when you ask the owner, they blame it on the staff and say everyone should bring their own padlock, ridiculous way of not being organized,...

The dog attacked my girlfriend and bit her, causing her to bleed.

We planned to stay for a month to surf but ended up staying for only two weeks. After two weeks, the dog bit my girlfriend. It is a very curious dog that wants to come up and lick you, but sometimes it bites too hard. Don't play with it. After the incident, we wanted to leave and get a refund, but the owners did not care about their guests safety. They are very difficult people. We involved the police and eventually got some money back, but not everything. The woman is, in my opinion, an evil person. She yelled at us when we said we were going to involve the police, even though we were the victims.

Apart from that, the rooms smell really bad, the kitchen is dirty and needs a deep clean—they only clean the surface. The pool is dirty and has plenty of old mangoes in it. There are cockroaches, etc. Avoid...
