Posada Luna is a two minute walk to the beach and close to all of the shops, restaurants, and the ATM cash machine. El Tunco is probably the safest town to stay in El Salvador and maybe the only place (along with the other near-by surf beaches) worth a visit. ||After a long bus ride into El Salvador, I didn't feel well. The owner offered me medicine and was kind enough to have a staff member drive me to a near-by pharmacy. Super nice couple! They checked in with me a few times to make sure I was feeling better. ||Their place was great. It has a pool, wifi, kitchen, and is much more relaxed/peaceful than other hostels in the area. It's also more affordable. We stayed about 5 days. We rented surfboards, sunbathed, ate really well, and had ice cream everynight... there is a cheap ice cream place a few seconds away!...
Read moreCockroaches, yuck...But I have to write more. The lady who works there got super mad at us because apparently the aircon was left on even though we did not pay for it, but how were we to know?? Any way, apparently the same guy owns the place directly across the street but my wife and I did not know that when we asked about prices. Same exact prices. Than we see some of the same staff and what appears to be the owner here too. We left the place across from Posada Luna but the guy chased us down via bike trying to give us a discount to stay..no thanks. A few more times while a. getting our bags from Posada Luna to move them to the new hotel after finding a more clean place to stay and B. walking around town we saw him kind of lurking/staring at us. Odd...
Read moreWouldn't recommend. Had to move room for the last night of our stay (after them telling us we didn't need to), found a cockroach in the room, shower water seemed to be mostly seawater (extremely salty?), and the owners argued with us when we asked for a second towel as they expected us to share one towel between two people. It was unfortunately very noisy too so we found it very hard to sleep with traffic on the road and staff hanging out in the kitchen area playing movies on their phone at full volume in the middle of the night. The kitchen was also really dirty so we didn't want to use it to cook anything.||||Pay a few extra dollars and go to one of the other hostels...
