HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THE HOTEL STAFF AND MANAGER IONUT RIZA
I usually don't submit reviews on hotels, but this one was worst experience I had with any hotel around the world! And I am traveling a lot!
I hope that this review will help others to be careful when booking a room with this hotel and when selecting the check in date, carefully check before making any payment! To avoid what happened to me!
The hotel staff is most RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and INHUMANE, AND THEY SHOWED THEIR ONLY INTERESTED IN the hotel itself is very cold and unwelcoming! Its not even worth a 1 star rating!
Here is my experience with this hotel:
I booked a room for 2 nights from 30th July to 01 st August and paid for it online When I arrived in the hotel to check in on 30th of July, the receptionist told me that my booking shows check in date on 31st August, to which I was suprised because I selected 30th of July as check in date and not the 31st August!
Then I told him this has to be some technical error, because this is not the date I selected when was I paying for it, and I have being using Agoda website for many years, this never happened to me before!
To what he replied that this had already happened to other customers who booked online, day before I arrived! And their had same issue I had!
The receptionist told me, we don't have a room for you now, and we can't refund you anything, talk to Agoda!
Then I asked him, can I please use your wifi or contact Agoda from your reception, to which he rudely replied to me NO YOU CAN'T!
So now, I am stuck with this BAD PEOPLE IN THAT HOTEL, WHO REFUSED TO HELP ME KNOWING THAT IT WAS SYSTEM ERROR WITH THE BOOKING DATE AND IT HAPPEND TO OTHER PEOPLE TOO!
I have found wifi somewhere outside and immediately booked another room with Best Western Plus Cannes Riviera & Spa and checked in there
Then I contacted Agoda to issue me a refund because of the system error , their tried their best to help me and contacted L Esterel hotel to issue me a full refund but the hotel refused to refund anything!
The booking team advised me to contact the hotel and ask for the refund
I have emailed the hotel manager - IONUT RIZA and in a polite manner explained to him what happened and that it happened to other customers too and requested to issue me a refund for the 2 nights that I will not use, it was still 1 month before the booking date
He was very rude and unprofessional in his reply to me and did not want to cooperate, and not give even a partial refund, knowing that this happened to other costumers too!
He told me to ask for refund from Best Western hotel in Cannes!!! Now I found that one totally unprofessional and insulting!!

Read moreMy partner and I stayed here for a couple nights during my interrailing trip. The location of this hotel is perfect. It is a 2 min walk to the train station and about a 5 min walk to the beach. There are also lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and had great customer service! We arrived early but was able to check our bags in and headed out. Again, when we arrived back to the hotel late at night the male night reception was super friendly! Great customer service! ||However, on checkout the lady at reception was very rude. We overheard her ask for 40 cent more from the couple in front of us as the hotel had charged them wrong. And then without even saying hello she stated that we owe money. We had paid in full on arrival so was confused and asked why. She stated that the gentleman who checked us in had not calculated it right and that we owed €2. As this had happened to the people in front of us as well we felt it was wrong of them to be asking every customer for the extra money if it was the hotel at fault. She became very abrupt and said “will you not pay it then”. Obviously we weren’t bothered about the €2 but it was the way we were being spoken to considering it was the hotel at fault. Perhaps staff training in customer service is needed for this individual as well as training in basic numerical skills. ||Overall, I don’t want to leave a terrible review as it was only that one lady who treated us very badly and was very rude. All the other staff were amazing and went above and beyond! So yes I would recommend this hotel to those who are looking for a cheap stay in Cannes with the perfect location! Just disappointed in...
Read moreLooking for a room in a prime area of Cannes? Look no further. Just a few disclaimers you don't read about in the reviews... The rooms are the size of a small garage (the fiat we rented wouldn't fit in here), and the bathrooms are the size of broom closets. Not to mention the showers... It's a tiny capsule that is more like the of the vacuum tubes bankers used to send deposit slips up to the manager's office in... Only slightly larger.||If you're more than 6 feet tall (I am 6'2"/1.87m) and have even a semi athletic build - in other words, you spend your time doing things other than playing pickleball - look somewhere else.||Final note - the customer service sucks. Even for France... I asked a couple different people at the front desk and the maid for an extra pillow, because sidesleeper, and they all threw up their arms like they all of a sudden can't speak English. They certainly speak English perfectly well when they're running your American Express card at check-in.
