The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes, or the Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes, is a prominent convention centre in Cannes, France. It is renowned for being the main venue of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Here are some detailed insights about the venue:

OK, it's a truly iconic place in modern history. Seeing it on TV for decades, finally, being there. And nothing beats being there. And, of course, it doesn't live up to expectation. Reality rarely does. They must 'clean it up' for the BIG EVENT, but for mundane tourists, it's neglect. The area is very small. How they cram audience and parading stars is amazing. The big sign is colorful, and the background wall of photos (all American actors) is creepy. The red carpet is rough, stained, thin. But it's still neat to be there where the celebs will walk by (in May).

The handprints-of-stars is underwhelming. The prints are dirty,, signatures barely legible; no plaques, no photos, nothing. The city fathers could have done something, they didn't bother. For e.g., Nicholas Cage print looks like it fell down. Did he? Wasted opportunity.

IF you're in the area and IF you love movies, watched the TV festival, for decades, Hollywood fascinates, by all means, take the train (walk from station is 10minutes) and take a selfie. Cost near nothing. The town is small, cute but bring lots of money cause they have too much money here, don't need more.

Doors after locked, preparing for some game exhibition.

Note Feb2024 The entire Croisette road is a giant excavation site, something about sewers. Even a playground for the rich needs sewers. The majestic hotels are still there. If only their walls...
