Entered for a lunch with the family. The friendly waiter informed us the daily risotto was with crab. Later a waitress (the owner), took the order and informed the daily risotto is with king prawns. We decided to go for them and the children had bolognese and carbonara which they liked. The risottos arrived with a creamy mix of sliced/diced prawns and the taste was ok. The friendly waiter checked on us to see how verything was. We had 2-3 bites each and told him the risottos wasn't that good. He then said the dishes are not with prawns, they are with crab. Another waiter came to "help us" by taking a new order of other dishes, which we would have to pay for of course. But we would also have to pay for the risottos. A joke? Definitely not. Even if the waitress/the owner lady gave us wrong info regarding the ingredients of the dishes, she made the waiters to inform us they can not change the food without us paying for them. So we didn't finish the risottos, waited for the children to finish their food and took the check. The kind waiter and the other apologised and hoped for a better solution but their hands were tied by the owner. If you are in the restaurant business and plan to stay for a long time this is not the way to treat guests when YOU make the mistakes. We decided to eat the risottos until we realised the owner gave us wrong information. If you order Coca Cola to drink but recieve another different brand of Cola it's fake advertising and it's not something you want to pay for. This behaviour is forbidden according to regulations in the EU. Working in a restaurant requires that you have a friendly service for all guests, being accommodating, proud and respectful of what you introduce. At the end, that great spot will not help you all the way. I can not recommend anyone to eat at Da Laura. If the owner has this attitude towards us then this might happen to...
Read moreArrived with three friends around lunch hour, 12.30pm, was not able to make a reservation per telephone. Being greeted nicely by a lady (we discovered later that it was Mrs Laura herself) who asked us to wait for a bit, while she was trying to arrange a table for four. Once our table was ready a really kind and entertaining men (Husband of Mrs Laura) guided us to the table. We were served delicious Italian Food & Sine, while being served by the son´s owner, lovely guy as well. When looking for a lovely Real Italian, family owned and run Restaurant in Cannes, this one is definitely worth a visit!
Update Oktober 2023. Booked a table one month in advance, for four persons at 7.30pm, since I know out of own experience that it's very busy (TFWA) around this period in Cannes. We arrived and were being warmly greated by Laura herself. Ordered immediately our food and drinks, since we know it was going to be a busy evening for them. Drinks and starter arrived quickly and then... Then we waited almost for two hours for our main dish to arrive... Despite asking several staff members about our main dish, they didn't made our plates arrive earlier... Once we finally got our main dish, we immediately asked for the bill as well. Slightly disappointed seeing nothing being offered from the house. Please don't get me wrong, when going out for any breakfast, lunch or dinner, I'm more then happy to pay for it, however for the time we have waited and the weak service today, a nice gesture would have been appreciated. In high season maybe better to avoid this place, or if you don't mind waiting for a long time, it's still...
Read moreDa Laura is a charming Italian restaurant located in the heart of Cannes that offers a delightful dining experience. The food, while not perfect, is generally quite good and the atmosphere and service make it a worthwhile visit.
The standout dish was the truffle ravioli - the pasta was perfectly cooked and the truffle flavor was rich and decadent. This was easily the highlight of the meal. The bolognese sauce was also quite good, with a deep, meaty flavor.
However, the risotto was a bit of a letdown. It was dry and lacked the creamy, unctuous texture that a good risotto should have. This was a disappointing dish.
The carpaccio was well-executed, with thinly sliced beef that melted in the mouth. However, there were a few too many olives on top, which overpowered the delicate flavor of the carpaccio.
The service at Da Laura was friendly and attentive. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations. The overall atmosphere was charming, with a cozy, casual vibe that was perfect for a relaxed Italian meal.
While Da Laura may not be the best Italian restaurant in Cannes, it is a solid option that offers good food, friendly service, and a pleasant dining experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, enjoyable Italian meal in the heart...
