First, I attempted to check in with a black woman that claimed that I had no reservation. She was rude, acted clueless, and was not eager to resolve the problem of being unable to find my reservation, after I showed her an email on my phone that I had a reservation, with confirmation, and paid. Finally, she booked "the last room" they had for me, and I paid there in person. The next day I checked out with a white woman, who claimed she was the manager. She was the rudest person I have ever met, and definitely did not belong in the hospitality industry. I asked her if she spoke English, and she said yes. When I asked her about the luggage storage for the daytime, she snobbishly told me, "we do not have very much room, you can put your bag over there" while pointing next to a chair in the middle of the lobby. I asked her about the luggage room the woman the night before mentioned. The manager then said, "this is a small hotel, we do not have a luggage room," you can put your bags here, we have many bags. She spoke with disgust in her voice. Upon returning to take my bags and go to the train, I asked for help with calling a taxi. She said, "we do not call a taxi." I told her I was just at a restaurant in the port and they told me they could call a taxi, and asked her why she could not. She said, "this is a 2-star hotel." I then asked, "with 2-star service?" It did not even merit 2 stars. This woman would not help one bit with anything. When I asked questions, she would pretend like she did not understand me, yet she clearly understood me only moments before. She seemed completely bothered to be working in the hotel and was very arrogant. I asked about uber, and she told me "ha, in Cassis, there is no uber." A few minutes later, on the hotel wi-fi, I confirmed an uber. I told the woman that she was the rudest person I had ever encountered in France, and she then whistled at me and waved her arms at me to get out of the hotel. Why was this woman so unhelpful, unfriendly, un-welcoming? I will never know, but I did see on many previous reviews similar complaints.||||I would also like to add how dirty the hotel was. The bathroom was disgusting, I did not even use the shower. The room was a cubicle, where u have to tip-toe around the bed, in order to move in the room. Any hostel would far surpass the quality of this budget hotel. I was also bitten all over my body with bug bites the next morning after sleeping here. I wonder if the hotel had bed bugs, or just bugs that bit me? I will also mention the lack of an elevator, and having to climb many flights of stairs to get to the room. Even the location, near to the port, is not enough to persuade me to...
Read moreWe stayed here once before a few years ago and gave a glowing review. We know this hotel is a budget property and have no problem with that. We appreciate the location so it has been worth it for us previously. Upon our return last summer, we were shocked that seemingly no upkeep had been done. ||||I had received a rude email two days prior to our arrival telling me our room would be cancelled because they tried to charge my room to a card I wasn't using anymore. They weren't supposed to charge anything until the day we got there, and we paid a higher price for this option, so this was unsettling. The a/c didn't work, and it was stifling in our room. There was long dark hair all over the bathroom. We were excited for the wifi as they didn't have it in the rooms last visit (only in the lobby), but it seems they still don't have it in the rooms, even though it's advertised. ||||After a sleepless and sweaty night, I had a migraine and my husband went to ask if we could extend our checkout by an hour from 1130 to 1230 as our booking website had granted us so I could get some more rest. We were told no, as the cleaners had to get in. Why say online that your loyalty gives a late checkout if you're not going to commit to it? Fine then, I got myself together. ||||At 11:05 We have loud knocking on our door and yelling. It's the cleaner. She wants us out NOW as "checkout is 11". We very calmly and politely told her we were almost ready and closed the door. I'm sure it was much to her dismay that we didn't run out right then. Check out is 11-1130 as advertised. It was an incredibly unpleasant and rude end to our already miserable stay at the hotel. There were a few more things, but I do not want to seem petty and tbh I am tired just writing about this. ||||Cassis is LOVELY. Please do yourself a favour and spend the $20 extra to stay at the other...
Read moreI write in detail, so prepare for a novel of a review. I give this hotel 5 stars for its service and hospitality of the staff. It is a 2-star hotel, and like the description says, "low key and modest rooms", so the rooms are small and simple, but they are clean and in the perfect location in Cassis where it's close to shops, bus, food, and beach, and not where all the noise is at the water by the restaurants. There is no elevator, so those who can't or have a hard time climbing stairs would need to find another accommodation. I can't give feedback for the breakfast they offer since we didn't eat there. The bathroom door in the room does not lock and just slides open and shut, but hey, if you're sharing a room with someone, it's probably with a person who has seen all of you. I forgot to take photos of the beds before we crashed in them, but they are basic, comfy, and clean with 2 pillows each per single bed and a decorative cover at the foot. The lock on the room door was a bit tricky since it's a key to dead bolt it from the outside and also needs to be used the same way to lock it from the inside (no knob to twist, just keyhole). I would say that's the only downside I personally found about the rooms. I hope as they get more business they can install locks that can easily lock and unlock from the inside without a key in the future. The aspect I really appreciated about the hotel was they were okay with us leaving our bags with them when we arrived early before check in, so we could explore the town, and let us leave the bags with them for part of the day after we had checked out (and use their bathroom when we came to pick them up). Both receptionists, Carla and Natasha, were extremely friendly and did their best to be hospitable and accommodating. Great for any traveler looking for simple accommodations with awesome...
