My husband said he wanted to see the coast of France when we returned this year, and I agreed. We thought about staying in Marseilles but chose instead to visit the lovely coastal town of Cassis. I am SO glad we did. There is something magical about this little town. It's situated at the base of a fairly steep hill that leads right down to the harbor and the Mediterranean sea. It's old and new at the same time. It's beautiful and fun while also being possibly the most relaxing spot I have ever been on planet earth. I never wanted to leave.
A big part of all of our very positive feelings about Cassis had to do with our lodging at the Address. First, the location is wonderful - up on the hill and providing a wonderful view of the water and the hill from the numerous seating areas and balconies. We were visiting in February, so it was too cold to swim in the beautiful pool, but I could just imagine enjoying that view poolside when the weather is warmer.
We rented the Master suite which is larger and located upstairs. This of course provides the best view since you are higher and the Master is just this little oasis of heaven. The space is not big but there are a lot of little touches and smart design choices that make the space plenty big and pretty much perfect. The bed is so soft and heavenly, you can open the window and feel the breeze, it's just a beautiful and relaxing spot. All of the amenities in the Address really take it to the next level, from the fancy toilet bidet (I am not kidding, total game changer if you like a bidet) to the automated blinds that slide up and down with the click of a button.
Eric and Sabine are the ultimate hosts - offering to do just about anything for you, from making recommendations, giving directions, arranging transport to the airport or simply helping you with your baggage. Eric did not complain in the slightest when we arrived SEVEN hours after we were scheduled to (got stuck at Heathrow) and arrived at the gate after midnight. He was always there to answer questions, point us in the right direction or just simply chat. Sabine is a little more shy than Eric but equally hospitable, and she deserves extra credit because she is the incredible chef who prepares the daily breakfast. Each morning we would come down to a lovely sliced warm baguette with butter and a selection of jams, fruit, juice, coffee and then whatever we wanted within reason... eggs, homemade yogurt and most notably, Sabine's amazing pancakes. Don't be stupid like we were and wait till the last day to try one! Eric told us they were the best pancakes and he was not lying.
I am not kidding when I say we are already discussing returning and for a longer period of time. I've stayed in a LOT of very nice places from Hawaii to Europe to Asia, and this little village in France was THE most relaxing and tranquil places I've ever stayed. I honestly cannot wait to come back and miss it...
Read moreThe Address Cassis is a positively beautiful villa on a hilltop overlooking the village and Mediterranean Sea. As of June 2019, the rooms were newly renovated and pristine and included a sitting area, as well as a bedroom and bath. TVs had netflix, so that you could pick movies in your language, although the area is so lovely that we never watched TV . The guest rooms open onto a patio with views of the sea, which was the perfect place for morning yoga. There is a beautiful pool. The meals were delicious and plentiful with lots of choices, and the dining area has an excellent view of the sea. Sabine is a wonderful cook, and Eric and Sabine were very gracious hosts who were extremely helpful in getting us anything we needed from food and wine to restaurant suggestions and tourism planning. It is a short walk past lovely villas covered in flowers to the Cassis downtown/harbor area. Cassis is a charming town with tons of restaurants and cafes along the harbor and several public beaches. It is everything in terms of beauty that one looks for in the Mediterranean Coast, but a more affordable and laid-back resort than the Riveria towns. The nearby Parc de Callanques on one side of the town and the red cliffs on the other side boast some lovely beaches and stupendous views. Eric helped us arrange a boat tour, and we also drove and hiked to explore the surrounding cliffs and beaches. There are several local vineyards, and Eric recommended some very nice wines. We wish we had planned more days there, and we definitely...
Read moreOur stay at The Address was nothing short of exceptional. Eric and Sabine are outstanding hosts who go above and beyond to make every guest feel truly welcome. From the moment we arrived, their warmth and attention to detail made us feel comfortable at home.
The breakfasts were absolutely delicious Sabine’s recipes are special, a perfect start to each day. The views from the property are beautiful, and the pool area is stunning—a peaceful oasis to relax in.
The rooms are spotless, with incredibly comfortable beds and immaculate bathrooms. Every corner of The Address reflects care and quality.
A special mention goes to Eric for his kindness and support: when our car broke down just 30 minutes before our scheduled boat trip, he immediately offered to drive us to the port and even contacted the rental company on our behalf. While we were enjoying the sea, he coordinated with the towing service and managed the entire situation for us. Truly above and beyond!
The Address is hands down the nicest place to stay in Cassis. I can’t...
