This brasserie is an Oasis in one of the most multicultural neighborhoods in Paris. Located in front of the bustling Barbès-Rochechouart aerial metro station and just minutes from the Sacré-Cœur, this bar-restaurant hides an industrial-chic ambiance that contrasts sharply with the hustle and bustle outside. Notably, the second floor features large windows overlooking the urban spectacle and two distinct spaces, one of which has a double-height glassed openable ceiling that allows natural ventilation. If you are lucky, during some summer ocassions is even possible to access an upper terrace with magnificent views of the neighborhood. For me, it’s one of my favorite spots in Paris, perfect for a coffee with a book, a cocktail, or enjoying a simple yet effective menu (I am particularly fond of the oysters they offer year-round). All this is managed by a team that, as a regular customer, I truly appreciate. I constantly see their efforts to bring out the best in this iconic place in the heart of Paris. PS: As a big fan of the Pisco Sour, one more step towards perfection would be if they offered this cocktail too, but I believe they are almost convinced to do so soon! :)

As a Chicago girlie, never did I expect to find a spot in this unassuming Paris square that felt like home. Entering the first floor, you are struck by the rustic warehouse vibe with long communal tables. There are beers, burgers, and other bites but no coffee! 😅. (seriously, what the heck). It's ideal for young people or anyone looking for a no-frills hangout spot. Then, if you go upstairs, you'll find a more chic bistro design in the main area, as well as an outside terrace with sky roofing; all of which can be plucked straight from the trendy West Loop district in Chicago. In the daytime BB is perfect for rendez vous, remote workers, and commuters as the Barbes metro station can be seen from the windows. In the evening, it gets more buzzing. For a non alcoholic bev, I highly recommend the ginger juice. It’s sooo good! The staff is fun and accommodating, specifically “Martin” behind the bar. They even gave me recs for my long stay. I’ve got to return when the rooftop is open for events 😄

EDIT: This is a prime example of how a bad experience with an employee can ruin one’s opinion of an establishment. As you can see below, my first review of this place was glowing. I went back to take more pictures and have more food because I enjoyed it so much the first time. They were busier, which was to be expected, it was a Friday early evening. I sat at the bar. The brother behind the bar is always cool. ☺️ I had a waiter with a blonde ponytail, he wasn’t so attentive, so I was also ordering from the bartender. He was nice. A third guy behind the bar was a little bit snarky, I didn’t interact with him much, but ironically, HE was the one who asked me to write a review. I was thinking “based on what? “🤔 I waited a while for my bill, and finally I paid and tipped the young guy behind the bar. I began to leave. The blonde waiter rushed after me at the stairs, and very abruptly said “you need to pay.“ I turned. He modified to “who did you pay?” Gesturing to the bar, I said “yes, I paid him.” Blondie asked his colleague, who confirmed, then he turned away to the computer and just left me standing there. Finally, I said “so is everything OK?” Without even really looking back at me, he said “yes.“ That was so OBNOXIOUS. It’s not my fault that he wasn’t keeping track of what I was doing. Was I supposed to sit there waiting all night for him to come back with a bill? You don’t accost customers like that. The implication he made is that I left without paying. It’s rude. The waiter should’ve come up and said “I’m so sorry, can you let me know who you closed your bill with?” Oh, and the oysters were still yummy, but the shrimp wasn’t so good the second time around. I doubt I’ll be back soon. —— Decent prices for food and drinks, really nice wait staff, and it’s a lovely setup. Feels cozy and cool. My oysters were lovely. I also got the crevettes and mayo, that was so tasty, I got a second order!

I recently dined at Brasserie Barbes with friends, enjoying a delightful lunch with a lovely view of Paris. Despite not having made a prior reservation, we were promptly seated at a nice table. The waitstaff were courteous, and the service was commendable. However, I did notice that the cups of water provided were dirty. When inquired, we were informed that they were facing issues with their dishwasher. While I appreciated the honesty, I would have preferred a more professional response that included assurance of resolving the machine's maintenance promptly. On the culinary front, I liked in the faux-filet, which was both delicious and tender. Additionally, I found the prices to be fair given the quality of the meal. Overall, despite the minor hiccup with the dishware, I had an enjoyable dining experience at Brasserie Barbes.

great spot close to sacre couer, they have a few vegan options that are listed separately (yay!), options for everyone to enjoy! the separate non-smoking area was where we sat, kind of wished the outdoor-ish smoking area was also non smoking cause the light pouring in was so nice. our windows looked directly onto the metro entrance where there were a lot of folks selling drugs, felt a bit shady when our interior surroundings were so nice…cops stood outside the restaurant to deter them, didn’t work for long. my vegan steak was a bit dry, could have used way more sauce or something, but i was so happy to find a substantial vegan option that i didn’t mind as much. appreciated the hot sauces on the table too! dad got the poached fish, mom got the steak filet w fries. everyone was happy!

We went to Brasserie Barbès as a group of colleagues during the Paralympic Games, and it was a great experience. They seated us on the top floor, where we enjoyed a nice view. We ordered drinks and food, and everything was wonderful. I loved my drink, although I’m not sure what it was called since my boss ordered it for me, but the cocktail tasted great. For food, I had a burger, and it was delicious—the sauce, which was like butter, added an extra touch that made it even better. One cool thing I need to mention is how we paid the bill. We just scanned a QR code, split the bill, and paid with Apple Pay, all without anyone bringing a payment machine. Isn’t that amazing? I’ll definitely try to have another lunch or dinner here before I leave Paris!
