This is a nice hotel in the 7th Arrondissement near to the Eiffel Tower and Napoleon’s Tomb & Army museum. The hotel room is small but clean and tidy. It served its purpose. It’s convenient for walking and transportation. My mother struggles to walk far, so around the corner on Duquesne we took the 86 bus, which in the direction of Champ de Mars will get you to the Eiffel Tower. On the opposite side and across the street, the 86 bus in the direction of Parc Zoologic will get you towards the St. Germain area and other nice shopping spots.
Of course, consult your Google maps or Rome2Rio for exactly which bus and stop suits your needs. You can take the Metro (subway to us NYers) at École Militaire. For easy pay options, they have the Navigo app where you can by one time use tickets or day passes even up to 48 or 72 hours, possibly longer but I forget. Just pick the zone(s) you plan to be in. You can search Paris train zones online. Most tourist spots will be in the 1 or 2 zones but double check to plan ahead. Otherwise, you can carry coins for the bus or purchase physical Navigo cards or tickets in some Metro stations. Hang on to the tickets until after you exit, you need to validate it after your travel to exit the station you arrive in as well.
The hotel was convenient even though small but clean, and we felt safe which is all I really needed. There were no extras, except for the heated towel rack, which is lovely, but no mini refrigerator to store fancy French butter or treats to have later. If that’s fine with you, then you’re set. I’d venture out of the area for food options, the one downstairs seemed overpriced and around the corner at an Italian restaurant they ask tourists for tip, which aren’t needed in France. Just some food for thought. You can see some of my restaurant...
Read moreDo you want to feel comfortable and at home in Paris? Do you want to be “wowed” by your visit? Both are possible at this Hotel. It is in an ideal location for many activities: the army museum, the champs de mars and eiffel tower, walking and touring along the Siene. It is convenient to metro stops and other transportation.
The staff and owner provide superb service. We have stayed at this hotel on two occasions, six years apart, and the staff from the prior visit were still working there. This contibutes to the overall professionalism and knowledge at this hotel. They are truly thoughtful and if you have questions they will make the extra effort to ensure you get answers and more!
The hotel is 6 floors plus a lower floor for breakfast. There is an elevator for folks who prefer, but i like to take the stairs. Even when staying on the 6th floor the stairs are easy to manage and accessible. The rooms are small for American standards but you will quickly find out how comfortable and functional they are. Rooms have electric tea kettles and are decorated in an avante guarde style that is a refreshing change from chain hotels. The breakfast is incredible. We had a choice of meats, yougurts, cereals, cheeses, jams, fruit, baguette, patissierie, coffee, juice, eggs boiled or made to order. It is what you need if you are going to walk Paris for the day.
I highly recommend upgrading to a street view even if it costs more. The view of Napolean’s Tomb at night is unique and stunning. It blew us away every night and we did not notice any street noise. Hotel de France Invalide is the best place to stay in Paris. They will make you feel 4...
Read moreJust 15 min by foot from Eiffel Tower and other hot spots in Paris. A lovely older hotel with fairly nice hotel rooms, you will feel comfortable during a short stay. The rooms are clean but in need of redecoration. The room I stayed at had old water marks on the mirrors, power sockets were flimsy, and there were only 2 available in the entire room. Baring in mind, the mini fridge was not present for some reason. Its cupboard had this additional socket i used to charge my phone and other equipment. Toilet seat dispositioned and general wear and tear with some bits of wallpaper hanging. The shower had strong water pressure. However, it was getting clogged very quickly, so I had to make sure I took rushed showers so the water did not overflow. Bed was comfortable with clean, crisp sheets, which also had some ink markings on it. There was a chair with a desk available, a wardrobe and a kettle with 3 saches of each tea and instant coffee, bedside table but no safe in the room. Hotel walls on the thinner side, so you may hear next-door neighbours and a dull feet stomping from the rooms above yours. It was very warm in the room , and I had the windows open most of the time to get some fresh air in. If needed, there is an additional heater available to turn on. Which i think is great during colder days. And a fan option that did not seem to work apart from loud fan noise. I only met front desk staff, who seemed friendly and informative. All in all, it's a positive experience as I was not moving in, but was only staying for a short stay. I would most likely return...
