For context, we are two mid-30's Americans on our honeymoon.||||OVERALL: would not recommend if a quiet and welcoming atmosphere is important to you. ||||PRE-ARRIVAL: We booked directly through the hotel website and emailed to inform them that we would be celebrating our honeymoon. We enjoyed seeing welcoming in-room flowers for honeymooners and breakfast in bed on their instagram, but now believe these to be false advertising or from/for influencers. They sent a questionnaire prior to our arrival asking about our preferences and reason for travel (we again mentioned our honeymoon) but none of our requests (street side room instead of a courtyard room, ironing board, extra converter) were granted.||||ROOM: The superior room was great: entryway with closet (with safe), fridge, coffee maker, chair, and table; HUGE modern bathroom; incredibly comfortable king bed and enough space to move around it. Free still water was provided daily. We had two blissful days of quiet before neighbors moved in next door and in the room above us; we were woken by voices and footsteps all night despite having a noise machine and earplugs - so, very poor soundproofing. Housekeeping generally did a good job but were noisy at 8 AM and did not clean our room one day (though did come in to give us water...?). There are black out blinds in the bedroom area, but our bathroom was missing a blind for one window, so we had to hang the bed runner onto the opaque bathroom door to maintain darkness at night.||||BREAKFAST: We were initially impressed with the breakfast spread, available 7-11. There's eggs, meats, pastries, fruit, yogurt, etc. However, everything is put out around 7am and not kept cold, so the meat spoils. You can eat inside but they have the news blasting on the TV, or you can eat outside, but the staff dislike it that if they haven't set it up yet. There's a cappuccino machine but there are unwritten rules about what cups you can use. We were actually asked to pour our drinks from one mug into another mug to take it up to our room to get ready for the day. Felt like we were supervised and dreaded going every morning.||||AMENITIES: Close to metro and corner store. We were never offered breakfast in bed as their instagram indicates. They offer a "room service" pizza delivery through a partnered restaurant but when we tried this, the evening staff were confused about what we were asking, said they'd get back to us when they figured it out,...
Read moreDefinitely not a 4-star hotel, regardless of how it’s listed — clean and fair at the right price, but the overall experience doesn’t match the 4-star standard.
This was my fifth time staying in Paris, and I’m quite familiar with the city’s layout. I mistakenly booked Hôtel Mayflower Opéra instead of Hôtel Mayfair Paris, and also ended up with a room change and a heavily discounted rate, so for the price I paid, the stay was absolutely fair. Although this hotel is located in a different part of the centre than where I usually stay, it’s still central and accessible.
The hotel itself is very clean, and the staff were genuinely helpful and responsive throughout. Amenities are solid, and any issues I brought up were handled professionally. The hotel is located right near Gare Saint-Lazare, on the edge of the 8th arrondissement — a spot that’s undeniably central and convenient, within walking distance to many key areas and shopping zones. You're close to everything, but the immediate surroundings have a busy, pass-through feel due to the train station.
There are plenty of nearby places to eat, but mostly casual cafés with little atmosphere. It's not where you’ll find refined service or Parisian charm — definitely no LouLou, Giraffe, or Royal Vendôme nearby. It's more “here’s your €9.9 onion soup, merci, next table.”
Breakfast is available, and it’s completely fine — just not the kind of high-end Parisian breakfast many travelers might expect if they’re used to more curated or upscale hotel experiences.
I did have a serious incident: the towel warmer in my bathroom overheated, and I actually burned myself exiting the shower. Initially the staff didn’t believe it, but once they checked, they were clearly shocked. To their credit, they called an in-room doctor and quickly provided the prescribed medication. I was just relieved it happened to me and not my child.
Another oversight: after cleaning, my room door was left open. Fortunately, nothing was missing, but it's a security concern nonetheless.
All in all, I want to be fair. At the low rate I paid, this was a clean, and well-staffed stay. If you get a good deal, it’s a reasonable option — just go in with a clear understanding of the location, and double-check the room’s safety details when you arrive. And above all: don’t...
Read moreAn Unforgettable Welcome – Thanks to Rami at Mayflower Hotel Opera
I have stayed in many hotels across the world, but very rarely do I come across someone like Rami at the Mayflower Hotel Opera. He is, without exaggeration, one of the kindest and most caring professionals I have ever encountered in hospitality.
I arrived at the hotel at 3:00 in the morning after a long and exhausting journey. Many people would expect a quick, tired check-in at that hour, but instead I was greeted by Rami with genuine warmth, patience, and professionalism. It felt less like arriving at a hotel and more like being welcomed into someone’s home.
What struck me most was his attention to detail. Even at such a late hour, he made sure every part of my arrival was smooth and stress-free. He anticipated my needs before I even mentioned them, explained everything clearly and calmly, and checked that I was comfortable at every step of the process. Nothing felt rushed; nothing was overlooked. That level of attentiveness is rare at any time of day, let alone in the early hours of the morning.
Beyond his professionalism, Rami’s kindness and caring nature shone through in a way that truly left an impression on me. There was a genuine sincerity in the way he spoke and the way he looked after me as a guest. Small gestures—a reassuring smile, a thoughtful explanation, making sure I had everything I needed before heading to my room—made a world of difference after such a long journey.
It is people like Rami who elevate a hotel from good to exceptional. The Mayflower Hotel Opera is already charming and comfortable, but it is the dedication of staff like him that makes the experience truly memorable. Rami turned what could have been a tiring, forgettable late-night check-in into one of the highlights of my trip.
To the management: Rami is a true asset to your team and embodies the very best of hospitality. To future guests: if you are lucky enough to be welcomed by Rami, you will see exactly what I mean.
In short: five stars for the hotel, and if I could give ten stars for Rami, I would. His care, kindness, and eye for detail made me feel valued and at home from the very...
