Hotel Bernes Opera, Paris. We have just returned from four lovely nights in Paris at the Hotel Berne Opera on the Rue de Berne. The temperature was in the mid 30s so the aircon in the hotel and most importantly, our bedroom, was a godsend. Firstly the hotel in general, the reception area has a contemporary feel to it, very clean, bright and welcoming. It has some seating places where guests can grab a coffee from the machine or some water or sweets. There is also a small seating area patio in the courtyard adjacent to the reception desk where guests can smoke with their coffee. There is a quaint spiral staircase and small lift leading to the floors. Very quick Wi-Fi was also available throughout the hotel.
The breakfast room is beautiful, like an underground vault, cool and quite spacious. The choice and quality of what was available, was the best I have ever experienced. You will not find a full English breakfast here but there are scrambled eggs, bacon and small sausages if that is your preference. You will also find a selection of fresh bread, pastries, cheeses, meats, cereals, nuts, dry fruits, fresh fruit and fruit salad, yoghurts, different teas and a coffee machine that does everything. Help yourself to as much or little as you want.
We stayed in room 31 which is at the back of the hotel. There was no view just the building next door, but it was very quiet which is a bonus for a city centre hotel. It did have large French style windows. The room was very clean, tidy and it was replenished daily. It had a large bed and everything we needed, tea/coffee, a small fridge, hairdryer, safe, hanging space, a small desk/counter space and plenty of mirrors. There is a small bathroom with an over bath shower, a very small window just above head height and plenty of hot water. As previously mentioned, the aircon was much appreciated in the high temperatures, it kept the room very comfortable. We would have like to see english speaking channels.
The staff were always professional, friendly and very helpful. Isabelle the manager was always friendly and lovely to speak with, checking how we were enjoying our stay and asking if she could help with anything. Maria a receptionist could not have been more helpful during our stay. She took the time to explain the different areas in Paris and how to get to them, either walking or by Metro. She went above and beyond with advice and booking our tickets for us for Bateaux Mouches and Versailles online. Maria filled both the receptionist and concierge roles. A big thank you to her for making our stay more enjoyable and much easier. Finally, above I have mentioned the quality of the breakfast offered. I also want to mention and praise Naima who was responsible for laying out and replenishing the food and drink and setting and cleaning the tables. There was always a smile with our morning greeting, and she quietly moves around completing her role to the highest standard. Thank you Naima, what you do is much appreciated.
The hotel is very well positioned just two minutes’ walk to the Metro (Rome on Line 2). There is a Service Office at Rome station which we found very helpful to buy tickets, but we chose to use a Navigo Card with 10 tickets on it which we replenished at this office. On Line 2, Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur is only four stops away (a few minutes) from Rome in the direction of Nation. On a different line, 10-15 minutes and you are in the heart of all the hustle and bustle of the centre. A great location without all the crowds. There is also a small supermarket less than a minute walk away which is very helpful for everyday needs and a couple of nearby cafes/brasseries. If you are thinking of staying here, we booked directly with the hotel where we could see several images of different parts of the hotel. This is exactly as it looks now. Would we stay there again if we returned to Paris? Yes, without a doubt. Isabelle you have a very good team and thank you to all the staff of Hotel...
Read moreI loved this hotel even though it had a few minor problems. Stayed for 3 nights at the end of July 2025. || I'll make a list of + and - for the convenience of like...two people who will read this. ||+ Everyone I talked to at the hotel spoke English pretty well. |+ Amazingly friendly stuff. I was lucky enough to meet lady named Louisa who worked at the reception. Besides being polite, she was also very generous and helpful and gave great advice on how to proceed with my plans. Where to do what, where to buy what, how to get from this to this. If this cite allowed me to rate Louisa alone I would give her 10/10. Big fan.|+ Great placement. It's in the center and a lot of important stuff are very close by. Like Opera, metro, supermarket, great pizza place, good pâtisserie, pharmacy etc. |+ A really good AC. You turn it on low enough, and you feel like you're in a freezer. That's what I need and expect when I see that the room has AC. |+ Free candy and tea :3 (and coffee I believe)|+ Clean rooms|+ Hot water is hot and the water pressure in the shower is alright|+ Small but quick elevator||-- No freezer|-- No way to wash your clothes|-- No way to microwave your food after 12 AM|-- In my room toilet was really close to the wall. Let's just say it wasn't that...
Read moreOur 4-night stay was very pleasant.
The front desk staff were all personable and helpful, especially Sophie who went out of her way to help book the shuttle back to Paris-CDG airport after an initial email misunderstanding prior to our arrival in Paris. Beware: the shuttle IS NOT a round trip service! It is one-way i.e. from the hotel TO the airport only (18 euros per person). Make your own way to the hotel. The room had A/C and twin beds, a small but adequately appointed bathroom and ample closet space. We didn't use the safe provided, but it was a nice touch. Breakfast was either 8 or 15 euros per person; definitely excessive for what was on offer. We partook once on our last morning as we really needed something in our stomach before taking off. I had to notify front desk (Mandy) that we ate breakfast as she forgot it on our final bill! Honesty is the best policy, right? ;-)
The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood a hop skip and a jump away from the ROME metro. We chose it because we wanted to attend our daughter's concert at l'église de la Madeleine to surprise her. It worked out perfectly as it's only about a 15 min walk away!
We would recommend this hotel if simple, clean, and pleasant are what you're...
