We were so pleased with Hotel Le Ballu. It really made our first visit to Paris extraordinary. The room we had (12) had a very comfortable king bed and was HUGE by typical Parisian standards. The room had plenty of space to stretch out, store suitcases, have a wonderful dinner from room service and relax without being at all cramped.
Probably one of the best things is the small kitchenette which can be closed like a closet. Sink, nespresso machine (a must for us first thing in the morning), kettle, mini fridge AND a microwave. This feature is why we booked this hotel after a month of researching all hotels in our price range.
We ate breakfast there every day...lovely pastries, fruit, yogurt with plenty of drink choices. We also had room service for dinner twice (our first night...too tired after traveling to go out & one time during our 5 nights...after overdoing it with a 6 hour walking tour). I loved the shrimp rissoto!
Everyone at the hotel we encountered was helpful and pleasant. We did not make use of the spa but hopefully will on our next trip b/c we will stay here again! The hotel ambience is charming and I just wish we had more time to explore it and make use of the garden patio and the spa.
The location is very convenient to the metro and bus stops with plenty of small grocery stores and neighborhood bistros/bars/restaurants all within an easy walk.
The hotel itself is very quiet in the evening. We rarely heard anything. While our room was large and comfortable, there was not really a view, but that was very low on our priority list as all of Paris is at the front door. The only suggestion I would make is the room lighting was kind of dark. I would have liked just a few more freestanding lights ... near the couch when I needed to use my laptop and by the mirror in the room for getting ready.
Thank you Hotel Le Ballu...we are already talking about our next visit as you helped make this vacation one of our...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed her for a week and we were very happy with everything at Hotel Le Ballu. We arrived too early for check-in, our room wasn't ready for a few hours.
We were pretty beat from taking an early flight from Amsterdam and decided to have breakfast at the hotel and see if maybe, just maybe, we could possibly access our room afterwards (a shot in the dark, but why not?)?
Our waiter was very attentive, amazing how quickly breakfast came out and it was outstanding, perfectly cooked.
Coffee and food you that you want to linger over.
When we finally finished, we politely asked about our room again and as we expected, it was still not ready.
This is when we were highly impressed by the kindness of the staff at the Hotel Le Ballu.
The first reason why, was the very observant lady who had checked us in, had noticed I was using a cane to get around and offered to give us a more accessible room, that would be easier to access than the room I had originally reserved.
The second reason why, was she then said that they couldn't let us in our room yet as it was still being cleaned, she then said that the private pool area had not yet been reserved any other guests, that we could use it for the next hour to rest and just hang out in private for hour in the spa area. We could also use the pool too.
Everything worked out perfect, after our time in the spa and pool, our room was ready.
The dining at Hotel Le Ballu was exceptional and very convenient and well worth a try.
Do not miss the local places in the neighborhood, down the street is cafe La Ballu and around the corner is Épicerie Blanche and a little further away is, the not to be missed Via Emilia, OMG, I can not wait to eat there again.
All with-in a short walking distance from the Hotel Le Ballu.
Merci, Hotel Le Ballu

Read moreBeautiful, clean hotel in a fantastic area and the restaurant food and service was great too. It’s a truly stunning hotel. However, I do feel the hotel is off the mark of being ‘5 star’. There’s a few things that I would’ve expected (for the price and being 5 star), for example, no dental kits in the room, shoe shine box in the room but no shoe shine inside (little things like do seem trivial but should be standard for 5 star hotels / Michelin key hotels) and the service wasn’t as i’d have expected particularly when it came to the private spa. We arranged a private massage - the prior communication over email and booking this in was very easy - but we spoke to the hotel reception a number of times on the phone and they never gave instructions of how to get to the spa (in fairness to them there was some technical issue with the lifts apparently, although again this wasn’t communicated to us) but this lead to us walking around the hotel in our dressing gowns for a while which was a tad embarrassing and being late to the massage as a result.
The masseuse was lovely but was a male masseuse and I was never asked about gender preferences etc. This is something that should be asked as standard for a 5 star hotel. It wasn’t an issue for me but I suspect may be for other women.
When I expressed the poor service in this regard to reception (including my concerns with the lack of commutation about gender) I was simply told ‘they would take the feedback on board’ but this part of my visit didn’t feel like I’d got value for money after spending 280€ on 2 massages.
The spa itself is lovely and clean and well maintained and it’s a real novelty to be able to book it privately.
Overall we really did enjoy our stay and, as I say, the hotel is beautiful but I think the hotel service overall needs a bit of work to be able to claim 5...
